Just a short note to say a big thank you to all the users that have donated during the year, not only in money but also in content.  2008 has been a fantastic year for the website with dozens of new rom sections and a huge increase in visitors.  2009 will see the continuation of this growth.  I aim to provide roms for every old format there is and also further increase the visitors.

Hi again.  Although it may not seem that much has been happening since Nov in fact I have been rewriting the downloading scripts for the site to help advertising income.  From now on you will have to confirm your request to download.  There will be no forced add popups or other crap just a simple popup from this site to allow you to confirm download of the files you requested.  I have also been working on page errors and other rom section changes.  All good maintenance.

I thought it would be fun to add a shoutbox for users to interact while on here.  Lets give it a go.  Please keep the chat clean. You can open it in its own window as well if you wish to stay online while you surf.

It was time to expand the Commodore librarys and as a result I decided to create a mini C64 section  due to the amount of material available for the good old 64.  I also added a new rom library for the Commodore 128 roms.  Work on the Amiga mega site continues with uploading being the biggest obsticle to overcome.  24GB takes a while :)

The site just got upgraded today.  I have to say im chuffed, PR5 is fairly hard to acheive for this type of domain.  Advertisers, heads up im PR5 now. :)

Stixcreatur has sent in two new website banner designs, the first for a while.  To honor his effort I have already assigned them to huge sections.  One is used in the Fairchild Channel F library and the other was gifted the Sega Genesis or Megadrive Library. You can also visit the Website Banners Section to see the othersubmitted content over the years.  Thanks to all again.  It always brings a glow to have users send in content.  Remember that there are still a lot of sections for you budding graphic artists to claim.  Get drawing and make your mark on this website for all time.

Two more inportant rom sections have now been added.  The Fairchild Channel F Roms library and the Sam Coupe Roms Library are now available for you to explor.

Another little rom library update, this time its the addition of the Oric1 & Oric Atmos Rom Library.  This should bring back a few memories for the UK crew.

The BBC Micro Roms Library is a rare section to have but important none the less.  The BBC micro was used by every school room in the UK in the 1980's and is responsible for some much loved games like Chuckie Egg.  Enjoy..

Earlier this week the much loved demo scene radio station NECTARINE was hacked and destroyed.  This website has had my loyal following from the start and features on this website as part of the retro radio section.  I am asking ALL users of this website to put your hand in your pocket and help get it back up and running.  I have started a ChipIn fund for easy collection of these funds.  I have donated so please join the rest of us and do the right thing.

New rom section added, this time its the Bandai Wonderswan Color Roms that get their place in the rom library.  Enjoy.

Another nice little addition to the collection is this small but perfectly formed Acorn Archimedes Rom Library.  I hope this bring any old school Archimedes users some joy.

It official, the truly outstanding PC Abandonware Roms library is at last uploaded and ready for you to plunder.  With over 2800 games in over 10GB of online data this new rom library is one of the largest yet.  The only thing that will top this is the Amiga Library which currently stands at 18GB and could quite possibly take the rest of the year tp upload.

It took a few days to upload but hey look at the results.  Its summer maddness here at The Old Computer.  I am rapidly patching the holes in my collection.  This massive update consists of,

The next exciting section is almost ready for upload and is the largest to date by far.  A 13GB collection of DOS PC Abandonware games.  I am looking forward to it.

There is always a lot of stuff related to retro gaming and computing that I can not place directly into this site, mainly because it is the result of random web browsing and a product of my mindset at the time.  Nevertheless some of this crap can be entertaining and indeed informational.  So to this end I have started the standard issue blog.  You can visit the new blog here and I will also soon update the menus to allow access from anywhere.

The complete Sega Game Gear Roms library is now ready for you to start downloading.  I am currently working on a monsterous Amiga Library which when complete will be over 8GB in total. Also in the near future I will be adding the Sega Genesis, Oric, Acorn/BBC sections so stay tuned.

This is one of the largest and most complete rom sections added in recent weeks.  The newly opened Nintendo Gameboy & Gameboy Color library boasts an impressive 6496 roms all available for you to download free of charge, spam and porn.  This library took me some time to compile and even longer to upload.  I hope you enjoy the games as much as I enjoyed opening this section.

A good collection of Operating System boot Disks has now been added as a new library to the roms section. We have DOS, Windows 95,98,ME,NT3.51,NT4 and others.  I intend to offer others as they are found.  This is a very handy resource for anyone with retro PC's and games.

Just a quick note to ask everyone on this site to get involved with the old computer dot com forums and help build the community.  Although I receive over 110,000 unique visitors a month the forums are still very slow to take off and without your support I can never make them work.  I asking everyone to get posting and adding content.  I am happy to make users that wish to help admins of their sections.  Just let me know what you would like to administrator and I will set it up.

To start July off I am now adding the superb Atari Lynx Rom library.  This little wonder was the first full colour LCD handheld games console in the world and had some very forward thinking features and design.  It still has a huge cult following and therefore gets its place in my rom library.

Another week, another console added to the rom libraries.  This time I am adding another great cult console the Atari Jaguar Roms.  These were the first 64-bit consoles on the market but unfortunatly did not sell well enough and as a result was to be Atari's last home videogame console.

The new sections continue to grow day by day.  This time its the turn of that great console from 1979 the Mattel Intellivision.  Once the only rival to the mighty Atari 2600, this library boasts all of the roms made available for this console.

If you dont remember this cool console, take the time to download and enjoy.

Another great section is now open and ready for you to download.  The Nintendo Family Computer or Famicom was the Asian version of the NES and featured a disk system.  This library is the roms images from the disks.  I also took the time to overhaul the roms section menus.  Hopefully gameboy sections are next.  Keep tuned.

The Super Nintendo Roms library has just been completed with the addition of four new sections.  The Public Domain, Nintendo Power, Sufami Turbo and OS Utils and Copiers sections. Within the OS section you will be able to find Game Doctor Rom, Game Genie Rom and Super Wild Card Rom.  On top of this there are also Tri-Star DOS for NES and SNES.

Hi again guys.  Ive been on an extended holiday for a while. Since the end of April the site has continued to grow and I need to say thanks to everyone that has been very generous with both financial and equipmenr/resource donations.  I plan on adding some new sections to the roms soon.  First will be the new Gameboy Roms section as well as more Sega formats.  Although the forums have got started they still require more regular users.  If you can, please take the time to get involved in the forums and if you wish I would thankfully make good members admins for various sections/formats within the forums.  If interested please let me know.

The Super Nintendo SNES JAPAN roms section has now been added to the rom library. There are a total of 1508 new SNES roms for you to download and enjoy.  The job to become the largest retro gaming site of all time continues ;)

On another note the Chatroom is now up and running in the forums.

I don't usually care for promoting peoples work on here, but this is an exception.  I stumbled upon this on the web last night.  The prints are by Ben The Illustrator and this one caught my eye.  It has all the old game characters and logos from your past on one very funky poster.

The Super Nintendo SNES USA roms section has now been added to the rom library. There are a total of 787 new SNES roms for you to download and enjoy.  This marks the start of more content updates over the comming weeks.

An update has been made to the Bios Roms section.  It now includes the bios roms required for emulating the Intellivision Console.  I will be adding an Intellivision game roms section to the rom libararies in the near future.

The last few rom sections have been given the cosmetic treatment.  Vic20, Colecovision, Vectrex and MSX sections have all been amended. The forums are now starting to be used well.  There has also been a new banner submitted and is already used in the Atari 5200 and 7800 sections so go take a look.

It has taken a lot of work but as I sit here and listen to Slay retro radio I am pleased to tell you all that a lot of new content has been added. More importantly I have almost finished the rewrite of the website which includes some new graphics.

The Libraries have been overhauled. Amendments have been made to the Activision Arm Patches section as well as the Retro Remakes library.  The Atari Brand Book has been added which when published featured content from my old advertisements library. Bootup screens library was given a new look along with all other older sections. The links section is now complete and looking better.  The Roms and emulators sections have been given a face lift along with the Bios roms, Atari 2600, 5200 and 7800, C64 and C64 Demo sections.

The next few days should see the last sections being updated after which I will start again to add new content in the SNES section.

The work continues to bring this site and its huge infrastructure into link for 2008. Sorry for the delay in more normal updates and activities but this is taking serious time. Hopefully by the end of this I will be able to more easily update and check the site. Just to let you all know, the stats continue to grow week by week. We are not getting over 520,000 page views per month. I am also in the process of finishing the Links section for the last time.

As a result of much discussion and emails with users, I have now created a totally new and exciting forums section using Yuku Message Boards. One of our donators Jessica Rose who kindly donated $30 last week is now responsible for six months of add free forums. Please get involved as soon as possible and make it buzz. As many of you have noted. The website is undergoing some serious amendments. All of the pages have been restructured to allow for advertising to be easily placed in key locations. You have my word that although banner and skyscraper advertising is required to keep the site alive I will not be allowing any pop'ups, pop'downs or any other annoying content. I will also not be asking for any payment or forced 'click throughs' before you can use the site or download roms. This site has always and will always be free to you, the users.

An entirly new Commodore Plus4 disk image library has been uploaded. There are a total of 640 disk images, many with several game images. Basically everything ever for the Plus4. Enjoy.

The entire website has been overhauled and given a road test. Every page was updated and spring cleaned. Some clean and non offensive advertising has been secured to help me pay for this. I have also fixed broken and old links as well as missing files.

I have abondned the old link library for a more basic but easily added too version. Please feel free to add your recomended site links to the database.

It's here, no more waiting. I have uploaded the first section of the Super Nintendo or SNES library to the website. EUROPE roms have been added. In the comming days I will continue to add the other sections.

Are you ready for this one, all 900 NES Box Scans are now complete and uploaded. It was a mamoth task but its complete. I hope you enjoy them cause it was a lot of work.

Update 14/01 : OK I am starting the SNES section now. I really really need someone to come up with a new cool Banner for this new section. Well the website traffic continues to grow and grow. The Old Computer Dot Com is now one of, if not the largest retro gaming and ROM site on the web. Alexia rate us as number 68,000 on the entire web.

We are now getting an awesome 12 million hits and nearly 600,000 page views per month.

Just addeda few BBC Bios and Basic roms in the BIOS section. I am trying to further extend this already comprehensive section.

I have made s start to a totally new section dedicated to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Now in my day I was an arch rival of the speccy, what with being a C64 owner en all. However I have decided to bury the hatchet for this new section.

There will be almost 4800 roms once the library is complete. So please feel free to start downloading.

A small update but Doug Kramer has sent a new banner for use on the website, its been a while since I had any new submissions, so I thought I'd mention it.

Please feel free to submit more banners for 2008, its time the various sections had a little spring clean.
