Do you think windows 8 will be as revolutionary as windows 9

Postby terenkleon » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:48 pm

I mean, windows 95 introduced the desktop, and every windows release after that has been based on that simple but revolutionary design. Then, a few weeks ago, im watching tv and they show the windows 8 interface. I know I sound like people sounded with vista( I hate change), but in your opinion, Will the new metro interface be as revolutionary as the windows 95 interface was?

Nope what I've read is that most people hate it. There is a thought in certain Windows Forums I've been to that the current "Beta" (Build 8102) is an demonstration that's really geared to Tablets, and not for everyday PC use. Me myself will stick with XP as long ass I need to, else me'll go back to Linux (if the business allows)

I think it'd be just a simple change from Windows 7 to windows 8, basically the only new thign is the start bar. It'd just be a hell lot more user friendly for tablets. (the windows vista/7 tablets are really inefficient.)

I installed the Beta a couple of weeks ago. First big change is tablet interface, which looks good on a tablet, but not on a 27" tft screen. But you could switch it back to the default W7 menu (which one i also don't like, i've installed an extra program to receive the classic start menu). Second is that the mouse is inverted, which is fine for a tablet but not for normal pc's.

So what i see from this is that it is focused on tablets and when you disable all the tablet stuff you have.,.. right... Windows 7. I didn't found much new stuff in W8 except the tablet stuff.

Do i upgrade... no i will stay whit OSX 10.6.8

Will it revolutionary? Every change is a change that could get revolutionary. But we never get a Big WOW as than when we first saw Amiga Workbench 1.3 running.

An mention Wirth's Law: Software is getting slower more rapidly than hardware becomes faster.

I don't like windows 8 and don't plan on getting it, I'll stay with windows 7 just like I stayed with windows xp. I'll keep 7 for as long as possible... or go back to Dual Booting with Linux Fedora if I HAVE to have 8. :3
