PSX - Controller Compatibility

Postby Deagonx » Mon Aug 08, 2011 2:59 am

I have a Xbox 360 wireless controller reciever that lets you connect an xbox 360 controller to your computer. And you can configure it to work with games.

Does PSX have such features? I mean. Can I connect the controller and be able to play a game with it?

Thanks in Advance - Deagonx

If you're talking about a PS1 / PS2 controller, you can go and look up "PS1/2 controller to USB converter" on eBay.

If you're talking about a PS3 controller, look here: www.motioninjoy.com

No, what I mean is I have a Xbox360 to USB adapter

Can I get it to work for PSX? Because they have virtually all the same buttons, just a somewhat different placement.

Oh, yes, you can.

Do you use ePSXe, pSX, or another emulator?

I believe ePSXe has a way of mapping the keys in it's controller configuration - can you try plugging your controller in, going to the controller setup screen, clicking one of the buttons (as if you were setting that button) and pressing the button on your controller?

Yes, I see what you mean. Map the controls so that they correspond with the PSX controls.

Pretty much, since ePSXe supports mapping to DirectInput (or whatever it's called) that should work just fine.

All that matters is your OS picking it up as a controller. I use a PS2 controller with an adapter for my needs, and it kind of works with pSX, which I don't use anymore.

I kept getting an issue with the controller not being detected by the "console" when I pressed L1.

With ePSXe 1.7.0 I noticed that it didn't quite recognize my corded 360 controller fully. I would just suggest picking up a logitech controller that has rumble and the analog sticks because mine works fully with ePSXe 1.7.0. :3

The Logitech controller I have only cost me $10 USD. :3
