Philips CD-i

Postby dimagico » Mon Jul 25, 2011 11:44 am

hello there,

i hope someone still reads this retro stuff
ok...here we go. Recently i got Philips DVD player which came also with joypad and one CD-i with pack of games in it. Of course, we are all PC´s now....and PS3 and everything, but reminded me on my youth games when only thing we knew was console connected with TV and simple games like bricks, tetris etc.
anyway, my two kids now wants to play those retro games and since i checked some sites to get few more games if possible (download and burn of course!)... i also saw this site and quite a number of games here: http://www.theoldcomputer.com/roms/inde ... CD-i/Games ...but...for some reason i cannot download any. Is that, because they don´t egsists in DB anymore or some other reason?
thank you for answering me...if some of the mods watch this topic!

This site is very much alive and a welcome to you as well sir. The forums never stop and is the right place to post questions and generally talk all things retro.

The reason that you can not download the CD-i roms is because you need to upgrade to an unlimited account by making a one time donation of $10 or more. This is simply to help pay for the bandwidth required to handle ROMs that large. Once you make this donation you will also have access to all other sections of the site and your download speed will increase to its maximum.

You can read in full the benefits and how to become unlimited on this thread

I hope you enjoy your stay and get involved in the forum community here.

When you download some games, make sure to download "The 7th Guest". That game is awesome!

And the CDi does not know a copy protection, so you can just download and burn the games and they will run.

Well go and find out, it was impressive at the time but unfortunatly too expensive for the majority of people.

Start here.

Our stuff is here

 made me smile that has,but no seriously it was sort of an interesting time with companies jumping on the CD waggon,Phillips Cd-i also the 3DO,Mega CD and Amiga CDTV/32.To be honest i think some companys spent too much money on this instead of focusing on other things and it led to their downfall.
