MAME4droid 139u1

I have an Android/KODI box and have downloaded the MAME4Droid app. It shows 139u1 for ROMs. I downloaded from the correct set and nothing will run. I just get error messages. The ROMs recognize/load into the app no problem, but just error messages after that on every single ROM I try. Is there something I am missing in the process? New to this and tried to search the answer first without much luck, hoping this will be better

Its been awhile but there is 2 mame4droid apps. .75 and the 139 you are talking about. 8 times out of 10, all the roms on this site work. The mame droid app itself lets you find where you're roms are stored you just gotta keep fucking around with it. If you have your roms stored in a sd card then look for the extsdcard txt in the app not the sdcard. If not thn it is in your internal storage which should be "storage" in the app. Dont give up, it took me months to figure out how to use it.

I have tried about 10 different games, every one gives me "The selected game is missing one or more required ROM or CHD images. Please select a different game. " error message. The emulator seems to be locating my ROMs without issue. Nothing is playable though and the CHD files don't seem to correspond to game ROMs by name at least. Thank you for trying to help but this shouldn't be this difficult. I tried every possible Donkey Kong ROM- nothing ever works.
