Postby gamfrkI » Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:50 am

post which is better

Windows
Pros:
  • almost every pc game is playable on it
  • windows is free with pre built comps
  • has lots of software that is free or can buy
Cons:
  • if its not protected it will get viruses, spyware, malware, etc
  • random crashes
  • expensive to buy

Mac
Pros:
  • more secure than windows
  • no defragging
  • ipods work better on a mac
Cons:
  • very expensive comps
  • os cost 2 times more than windows
  • some windows programs are not compatible yet

Linux
Pros:
  • its FREE
  • more secure than windows
  • lots of programs that windows has but for free
Cons:
  • some linux os'es are complicated to use
  • gaming
  • not everything is compatible(software/hardware)

if i had to chose which i would go with ill be windows just cuz i play lots of pc games then linux cuz its free and never a mac

Bahaha Ive had that happen before. It sucks!

I would have to say I would prefer WINDOWS. Your right about protecting it. Well heres how mines protected:

Should be on every windows:
Disk Defragmenter
Disk Cleanup

Anti-Anything:
Ad-Aware
SpywareBlaster
VIPRE
AVG Free 9.0
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Spybot - Search and Destroy
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition

Cleanup:
Auslogics Registry Cleaner
CCleaner
Defraggler
nCleaner
Smart Defrag
Auslogics Disk Defrag

Internet Safety:
ZoneAlarm Security
COMODO Firewall
PeerBlock

Other:
WinPatrol

Now, do you really think your getting anywhere near my PC. Nothing can harm me!! :headbang: :firefly:

LOL. Windows isn't impenetrable. You need something to stop attackers once they've gotten in. Got anything like that? I've got a DDOS file here on my pc. It's set to DDOS you if you make it past my firewall and I don't approve of your connection... How amazing is that? :3

Well thats what most the antivirus are for. AVG has some capabilities to stop something once its past but very little. VIPRE has heuristics that are VERY nice so I trust that. And almost every action that happens is run through COMODO (not just firewall but thats how its listed) and so I can moniter that. Do you run windows or Linux, cause I know its not a Mac lol

I wasn't talking about viruses. I was talking about hackers. Obviously what is a DDOS file going to do me against a virus? Anyway, I was talking about a hacker. Firewalls aren't completely protective... So if and when a hacker gets past my firewall, the DDOS file does it's work and oh... look at that, the hacker can no longer access the internet from that computer. Amazing. :3

Oh, and I run WinXP Pro Corporate Edition with Linux Fedora Core 13... Dual boot is amazing, no? ;3

i like Windows as a primary OS and Linux as a secondary/backup OS. but i don't like how difficult it is to install most programs in linux or the lack of hardware support for it.

I've never had a problem with Fedora Core #, it has always detected my hardware. Either way, I feel the same. Windows OS Primary, Linux Secondary. Can't game efficiently from Linux, and don't say WINE because that's not a solution. :p

Any game that doesnt run natively in Linux is not worth running at all.
I think I will be switching to Fedora 21 myself when it comes out but not sure if I will keep Windows when I do.
