Problems with DL speed

Hi there,

I recently registered and donated for an unlimited account (a steal for $15 btw).

Unfortunately, whenever I try and download anything, my download speed is max 300kbps, with a more usually average of 170k or so.

Now for small rom's thats not a big deal, however for larger items it's a ball ache, especially when I'm running with 100mb fibre broadband.

Is this a temporary problem as I was hoping for the 600k+ that is stated at various points on the website.

Great website, but please let me know re: the download speed.

Yea, I'm having these issues too, although I'm not on a 100Mbit connection but I do have 37 Mbits so it's a little bit of a headache when dwnloading bigger roms. My average download speed is around 200 KB/s from here, so just don't feel alone. And just for your knowledge, the server is located in Florida in the United States, so if you're in the UK or elsewhere your download speeds may be affected (although I don't see why they would).

Alas, it's not been a temporary problem because it's been this way for a LONG time - hopefully something can be done about it soon...

I can guys yes. Unfortunatly or fortunatly as the case may be the server is very busy. In fact the server is now almost 100% used every day. This is good in terms of our membership but bad in terms of total bandwidth available to all the members that are connected.

We only have a finate amount of bandwidth and when 300+ users are online at the same time this results in a small slice for everyone.

If we had more funds then I could increase the speed of the server and also the bandwidth limit but alas we simply cannot afford it at the minute.

This is as people say, the result of our own success. Cross your fingers, donate as much as you can and hopefully some time this year we will be able to afford an upgrade.

I don't know what wrong with the site but i can wait for 5 our 10 minutes to load a page?
And after a ping the website you see how slow the site is?

If I use the link you provided to test the response of google it come back with 80%, 90% and 1000% packet loss for them. I think that there may be an issue with that site and not our site. I am checking it anyway and will update you soon.

Just to let everyone know, there was actually an issue with the hosting company to do with limiting ICMP traffic and this was causing the ping slowness. They have resolved this now and we are getting excellent response times.
