Need help identifying this game

Hi everyone. I remember playing a game as a child. I don't remember the name but I do remember playing it at the same time as tapper. And a 4x4 racing game where you drove through a desert I believe and you visited a store before the race to buy supplies (I would also like to know what this game is too!) but the game I am really interested in is a game of engineering and mechanics in a sense. I remember you would set up pulleys and ropes and a ball would fall on a see saw and knock over a buckets etc.... Anyone know what I am talking about? Sorry I am so vague.

Hi lad,

The first game you are referring to could be one of the following:
- Big red racing (way newer than Tapper from 1983)
- Lost Dutchman man (no racing in 4x4, but the only game I now from a little later, where you play in the desert.
- Car Builder, car game from that time
- StreetRod - one of the most famous racing games from the 80's
- Stuntcar a.k.a. 'Stunts'; way newer than Tapper, but it does comply with your description.

Second game will have to be:
- TIM a.k.a. 'The Incredible Machine'; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Machine_%28series%29

As for the 4x4 game, I recon this one could be it:
4x4 Offroad racing, includes prepping car and racing in the desert.
It's from the late 80's.

I loved Big Red Racing when it came out. It was one of the first LAN games we played with mates for hours at a time. Simple but fast graphics and great tracks made it a game that was played for some considerable time.

I totally agree with you HT. Big Red was also one of my earlier LAN games.
The cars & tracks were great and I remember the sound (FX) also being amazingly fun for it's time.
