I absolutely love DOOM, there just isn't any game better than the first or second DOOM games. DOOM 4 is on it's way though... I did catch that off of their main page, they said it was to launch behind RAGE. :3

Can't wait for both. ;3

ID Software are gods. :hi:

Doom is awesome indeed! Do you alike Doom 3? I think it's a bit too much / too realistic. Doom 1 & 2 though, are great games.

We used to play Doom 2 when it just came out, down in the cellar (underneath a company my dad owned). He had a LAN setup there with about 5 computers. So when it was my dad's or mom's birthday, my cousins and me all went downstairs for some Doom 2 on 486 / Pentium 1 machines with old bad ass speakers.

Those were the days!

Yea, I love DOOM 3, I was impressed with where they took the game... I'm hoping doom 4 is even better. :3

And lucky you, I wasn't able to do multiplayer with DOOM until I discovered Zdaemon when I was around 13... I'm on skulltag now, I won't even touch zdaemon anymore. :3

Come now, it wasn't that bad. I probably only liked it as much as I did because I'm a huge fan of the DOOM series. >.>'

This is actually pretty awesome. I remember seeing some DOOM betas on the Beta Archive, but I never bothered to go through the whole deal of setting them up. Perhaps I will attempt this later. :geek:
Android is probably the best thing ever.

You guys reminded me that I had not played Doom 3 to the end. So at the weekend I dug out my copy of Doom 3 and installed it on my monster PC.

It looks freaking awesome on a big PC, the graphics still look amazing when compared to more recent games and the lighting and atmosphere of the game is just brilliant. I am playing right the way through again.

I highly recommend that you go to ebay and pick up a copy for a few bucks and play it. Superb and I am really enjoying it again.

It's too scary for me :P. Doom II.. ok.. but it's all getting a little realistic for me ;) .
Nevertheless: the graphics are indeed ahead of it's time! Just like Doom II's graphics were in the days.

A quick search on Google should take you to some links where you can download all of the DOOM pre-releases. ID have only ever made the following versions privately or publicly available:

DOOM Alpha v0.2 (Technology Preview/Tech Demo)
    DOOM Alpha v0.4 (4-2 Alpha)
    DOOM Alpha v0.5 (5-22 Alpha)
DOOM Beta 1 (Press Release Demo)
DOOM Beta 2 (v0.99 Shareware Demo)

Although DOOM Beta 2 was the official release, it is worthy of mention because it is considered to be the official v1.0 release of the game, even though it's operating system was released in beta form. Version 0.99 of DOOM was made available for 6 days before v1.0 arrived and it wasn't until v1.1 that Nightmare Mode would be added into the game and the full commercial release would then become available.

In actuality, this game kind of 'grew' into the public domain rather than just being a completed release.
