PSX Issues on Mac OSX (10.5.8)

Postby walshcav » Sun Sep 18, 2011 4:01 am

First off I just recently became a full member here and I love the site.

I'm not quite a noob with ROMS but I am with PSX ROMS.

I understand that the downloads are in .7z format which needs to be decompressed, which I have using Ez7z.

When I do that I get .bin and .cue files, which I know are to burn a CD.

Is there a way to mount these files onto the computer so I can play them from my computer like I do with my NES and SNES games?

If I am forced to burn them onto a CD that's fine, but how do I do that?

I'm using PCSX (version 1.5.0) as an emulator.

Thanks in advance!

you dont need to burn the game to run just open 1 of the 2 files with the emulator

Thanks for the response.

I tried that and I'm still having the issues.

I run them as "Run Iso" mode and a black screen will come up then it will crash.

I'm now using PCSX 1.9.91 and haven't had any success.

Next steps would be appreciated. Thanks for the help though.

I usually use ePSXe 1.7.0 and it runs perfectly with either using these .bin and .cue files. Also with .iso files too. You just have to use the "Run ISO" command from the file menu. BUT, this is how it works on windows... I am not sure about mac since I do not have the ability to troubleshoot this for you...

Thanks for the help ... I got the ROMS playing but I'm having an issue with my controller not working.

It's a nice Logitech one that I have used for a little over a year now with my NES and SNES emulators with great success. For some reason it's not registering either the analog sticks or the directional pads. It will show as registering when I configure the pad but when I actually play the game the directional or analog will not work.

I saw some add-on's for that but nothing about helping the controller out. I'll keep experimenting with that.

ePSXe has been a shoot and miss program for controller functionality. I have a simple logitech gamepad that is identical to the original playstation controller so it works perfectly for me... I just wish it had analog sticks and rumble... >.>' :3

See my Logitech one looks exactly like a PS2 controller with the analog sticks but no rumble.

I can't get the analog sticks to work on mine but I have been able to get the D-Pad working ... thankfully.

It's flaky in menus but as soon as I get to the actual gameplay it's fine.
