Retro game meetings

Postby stinow » Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:41 pm

Hi all,

Has any of you ever been to some kind of meeting with fellow retro-game lovers?
I mean, I have been to quite some LAN parties, but never came by something like that for retro-games yet. :o

It's a shame actually, because playing retrogames (even if it's single-player and sitting next to somebody and watching) is just a great way to spend the day. :good:

Anyways: I'm always up for a trip to the UK.

Not quite retro gaming but more to retro computing meetings. Whit a lot Amiga's, Commodore (C64, SX64, C128) and some crazy man whit a MSX. But sometime we just play some games, like Lotus II.

I would love to hold one here in Ireland but I fear that not enough people would turn up. Back in 1987 to 1990 I used to run a computer club for local fans. It met monthly and consisted mostly of Amiga 500's, CD32, C64 and early PC's. We had KickOff and Lotus III playoffs and we even managed to blag posters and t-shirts from the games makers for the annual cup. I still have some new unworn ZOOL t-shirts for the Amiga. Those were great days, 16 guys in a church hall all copying disks like professional pirates lol.

I am jealous of you guys... there are absolutely no such things as retro game conventions or meetings over here in the US that are anywhere near Detroit... >.>'

Hopefully they do someday...
