What are some Good PS3 RPGs available as PS3 Games or on PSN

Postby Chelsea » Sat Aug 27, 2011 8:50 am

I've played all the Final Fantasy series games and I love RPGs in general. Looking for something along those lines. Doesnt have to be a strictly PS3 game, it could be PS1, as long as its available on PSN. Thanks!

The few that immediately spring to mind are:

    Oblivion
    Demon's Souls
    Fallout 3
    Dragon Age
They aren't exactly like Final Fantasy games, but they are all very good RPGs.
Consoles owned:
Strika 2 (boxed), GX4000 (boxed), Playstation (boxed), PS1, PS2, X-Box Crystal (boxed), Gamecube, Saturn, Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, Neo Geo Pocket
Computers owned:
Amstrad CPC464, Amstrad PCW8512 (boxed), Amiga 1200 (boxed), Amiga 500, Commodore 64 (boxed)

If you get Oblivion, be sure to get the GOTY or 5th Anniversary Editions, as this is the only way to obtain the Knights of the Nine quest on console. I'd also recommend the PC version over consoles if possible, due to mods, but the console version is good too. Also, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming in November.

I'd also like to suggest the Ultimate Genesis Collection, It has Phantasy Star 1-4, and Shining Force, all good RPGs (though you could get those here too.)

EDIT: Suikoden from the PS1 classics isn't bad either, nor is Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

If you got the bandwidth you could also get Nehrim mod for Oblivion which is a whole new game using the Oblivion engine.
You should also get Dark Souls if you like the challenge of Demons Souls which is its spiritual sequel, I was hooked on it for good while :P
