Sinclair ZX Spectrum To Be Re-Released In 2012

A re-released ZX Spectrum is planned for its 30th anniversary next year. Details are sketchy at the moment, but we have it on good authority that the UK game developer Elite Systems, who re- released some of their original titles for Apple iOS are behind it. Elite were responsible for some of the biggest arcade ports to be released on Sinclairs home computer back in the 80's.

It will consist of a bluetooth keyboard taking the form of a ZX Spectrum (rubber keys?) which will run some form of emulation and will be able to connect to Apples iPhone and iPad - aiming the machine not only at nostalgic geeks who used it first time round, but also a new generation of gamers that mainly use their mobile devices for their gaming.

It is hoped that this will be all it could be and will play all Spectrum game ROMS and not just Elite's own offerings, which would make it basically a plug in to TV type of system.

We here at The Old Computer dot com will try to keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Hi, sorry my first post here has to be on a negative...

Regarding this post. Please give credit to the author if you are going to use other peoples words and pictures (almost) straight from the original post. It is good manners and when you are caught out you don't have to look like you were trying to take credit for something you never wrote.

The original article was written by me and can be seen here: http://www.retrogamescollector.com/sinclair-zx-spectrum-to-be-re-released-in-2012/

Hopefully, my future posts on this forum can be a little more positive!

Regards,

I sincerely apologize if this was plagarized, and I would have given you credit for the article had I known where it came from. The article was e mailed to me without credit or where it came from, as the person who e mailed it knows of my interest in retro computing. I should have been more diligent and done asearch of the web for more information. Again I apologize, and thank you for the interesting information. crusty asp.

Ant,

I just wanted to say hello. I am quite sure that Crusty would not have copied without a credit had he known. He posts much material on our blog and always adds credits where applicable. Can I also say that your own site is very interesting and I would encourage you to get involved here with more topics and links. :typing:

@crustyasp46 Hello and explanation/apologies accepted! End of matter IMO. Sorry if I seemed a bit OTT, perhaps a PM would have been more in order.

@Hot Trout Hello and thanks for the kind words regarding RGC, unfortunately I don't get enough time to give the site the attention it deserves with my family, full time job and retro games store using most of my time up.

Cheers,
Ant

Regards,

I would like to apologize to all members of The Old Computer. Com, And to the authors of the articles of the many posts, that I have posted in the forums here. As many of you know, I have been on dial up which when searching the web is a very slow process.

Many of the articles have been emailed to me as I have asked friends and family to send me interesting articles about computing and retro computing and gaming to me via email. It saved me many hours of trying to search for that good story to share with members here. I am guilty of being lazy, but it was never my intention to try to steal someones thunder for a good article of interest. In retrospect , before posting I should have been more thorough and searched for articles that I posted before I posted them to make sure the authors of the articles were given their due credit. Instead I just assumed that everyone should know that the article posted belonged to someone else, as I certainly do not have a private pipeline to the tech world living in the boonies of Canada.

Any post from me in the future will definitely give an author their due credit, as I respect those with the capability and insight to dig for their materials and their desire to share their results.

I am also happy to announce that I am no longer on dial up, and will rely mostly on myself to find that extremely interesting article to share on the forums here, and if sent to me I will search and make every effort to give full credit to the author.

To all members here, and to those authors of those tidbits of information that were posted here by me and if there is no credit given to you for the article, I apologize. Thanks, crusty.

There is no need to apolgise at all. Your input is very much appreciated and there is noone on the web today that does not re-post, copy and paste, re-rweet, share etc. Everyone does it and you do not need to worry.

thank you for the support Ht, but I just felt that I should apologize. I know that copy paste and retweet and everything else is used nowadays for submitting, as stories have to originate at some point. But again,s if a story is used as originally published by someone else then the original author should be credited.

My apology is more about my laziness, and lack of research in many instances . And just using what was sent to me. As said previously, in retrospect I should have been more diligent.

A large number of those that blog, and bring to the web those interesting and wonderful tidbits of information do us a great service and should be recognized for their efforts. And that is what the apology is about.

I just thought it was right to do.

A little bit off-topic, but I saw this topic, read the resulting conversation from OP and was convinced that only a truly great leader and moderator would have a discussion like that.
