Favourite Joystick/Controller Old and New

Postby Hot Trout » Wed Mar 09, 2011 11:24 am

Just post an image (real or stock) of your favourite joystick or controller both from 'back in the day' and also currently. You can also post images of mice and keyboards that you think would be of interest.

For me one joystick stands out, it was not the best at all but I did keep using and modding them time after time. I used these on the C64 and Amiga. The Quickshot had pressure pads which allowed some serious abuse. The quickshot II used spring switches which after a lot of gaming would break. I modded the Quickshot II and fitted bigger springs into the switch. Those were the days.

Veho Mimi: the keyboard/gamepad/mouse hybrid

mimi.jpg

Veho has just released a new hybrid controller that will cause most people to drop their jaws to the floor the first time you show it to them. If you ever needed the definition of “all-in-one”, this “controller” would describe it perfectly. Called the Mimi, this massive hunk of plastic gives you everything you could ever ask for when it comes to controlling your computer. A gamepad for those arcade games? Check. A keyboard for chatting? Check. A mouse for browsing the web? Check. If there’s nothing this controller won’t do out of the box, it’s open your car garage door (though I’m pretty sure some people will find a way to do it). It works with both PCs and Macs with a USB dongle and has a battery life of 20 hours, though I don’t see anyone using this for more than 10 minutes without getting a wrist cramp. Either way if you’re interested in picking up one of these bad boys, they’re on sale for $146

The one you listed Crusty looks to me like an Xbox 360 controller with the keyboard pad attached.

I also loved the TAC 2, it was a superbly well made joystick but at the time was very expensive.

OMG, keyboards is another computer fetish of mine. I am currently using this baby for daily office work (my serious keyboard)

Filco Tenkeyless with Cherry Brown MX Switches.

I use this retro IBM for my home rig, it does not use Cherry MX switches but none the less is a great keyboard.

That reminds me HT, you said you needed a retro IBM clicky keyboard? I have found one. I'll tell you what it is and post a picture of it in a bit.
