Old computer game played in school

Postby joe_joe » Thu Mar 03, 2011 5:06 am

Hello guys,

I am trying to find an old game I played in Junior High on the computer. I don't remember if it was on pc or mac. Not sure what type of computer was used in schools back then. This would have been early to mid 90's. I live in the US.

The game: You played against the computer. You and the computer had a cannon randomnly placed on either side of the mountain and you took turns shooting at each other. You could change the angle and the power. It might have been a green color and there was an outer box. Wouldn't mine playing it for ole times sake. Thanks.

I think you mean Scorched Earth on the IBM PC. An earlier version of this type of game was Artillery for the Apple II. There was also a later version of Scorched Earth called Scorched Earth 3D which was very nice.

There are three versions of Scorched Earth in the PC Abandonware section of our roms. Link Below.

Thanks Hot Trout. I believe I played artillery. Once I saw the name, I remembered it. Is that still available as well?

Do a search for Artillery using our search bar in the roms section and you should find more than one version. The Apple II version is available for sure.

Glad to have helped.

I'm having trouble. Don't have a high level of dl. I'm using a mac with Safari. Do I need to use windows?

When clicking the artillery attachment, I dl it. Then open it and it says There is no default application specified to open the document Artillery_Ballistics_DiveBomber_FlocklandIslandCrisis_LaserWars_LazerBlaster_MoonLanding_SkyBombers_TankCommand_TombstoneCity-2.dsk.

For the scorched earth I dl them. Then open and it opens a folder to a bunch of other folders.

Help please.

Hi Joe-Joe

For the Attachment you'll need a emu like applewin (http://applewin.berlios.de/) (MESS could also be used, if you use something else than Windoze).

The Scorched Earth files you'll Need Dosbox(http://www.dosbox.com/). Mount the Folder with
Code: Select all
Mount c dos
(dos is the Folder where you've extracted the Folder.) From within Dosbox. then use it as normal dos
