One picture per game

Hi,

I was on the game download site downloading a game and it came to mind that if there was one picture next to each game download link, the game might be easier identified. I ran across some of my old games, but the names on the site were worded a little different, so I was unsure if it was even the games I thought they were. That is when I thought about having a picture next to the link or something so it would help in identifying the game.

It's probably asking to much, but it was just a thought.

Hi again.

That is an idea that I was already working on. A picture, rating selector and comments box for every title. To do this I will need to add a new SQL database. I plan on doing this later in the year.

The new engine is nice. Definitely striped down and plain. Makes me think someone needs to color on that page with some crayons to liven it up

About the pictures. I very much agree. It wouldnt have to be a big pic either. Just colors sometimes identify games against others. Something that would be really neat is if there was a link or something, just a small square box, whatever, but you hovered over it with your mouse and the pic popped up in a little window. Then the pic could be about as big as our avatars. Also, in doing that you save precious space on the screen so you dont have to scroll through a page that takes all night. It would be lines of txt which would shrink the size and then the rollover pic. (If you didnt understand what I mean, Its kind of like the ads you see sometimes and draggin the mouse over the link pops up the ad in a little box. Pretty nifty for this situation)

I have started work on the database that will hold all thew additional information for a game like pictures, 5 star rating, comments, reviews and the like. I hope to have this up and running in the next week or so. Stray tuned.

I Don't know how much effort it would take to do this. (I'm just a little 40 year old lookin kid)(thats at Guest and kherr ). but, if it was possible to let users upload their own pictures for the rom and have it approved by a moderator. Let everyone else do the work for you.

That is indeed the intention, to allow the users to take control of the content. Make it real open source. Im working on the database at the minute. WIll take some time.

Alright, cause I cant wait to start building the database. It would be good to have some restrictions on pic size so when we upload, it has to be preformatted and that way we doing bog down extra weight with humungo pics.

Pictures are automatically thumbnailed for the database at the point of upload so no worried there. This next big database release is very close. Looking forward to you guys helping me fill it.
