Comcast Bill

Postby GozmitJosh » Sat Dec 04, 2010 10:07 pm

yay i entered a 2 yr verbal contract with Comcast at a discounted internet price 3 months ago on otc 1st. On my 3rd month bill i got charged a $75 early termination fee. Apparently the representative must have "forgot" to tell me they will call between when i started and 2-3 months from that date to verify my account. I missed that call as im away from my phone a lot. I called them up and they said they can waive the ET fee but i am currently out of my discounted "contract" and back up to the $75-$80 monthly charges instead of $35 a month but i do get 6 months of discounted price non the less. Also the caller i was talking to on the phone said the Comcast building i went to was not supposed to give me that verbal contract or that contract at all as it is "unavailable" in my area. All they can do now is "submit" me to the higher ups in an automated "program" and see what "pops out" and see if i can stay in my verbal contract. The lady at the counter misinformed me about the verification that was a HUGE part in what i "signed" up for. Either way im stuck paying more then what i thought.

I had 30 days for this and after a certain amount of "attempts" to call they stop. As my work does not allow cell phones on the floor i leave my phone at home. Also after a certain amount of hours my phone does not show "1 missed call". If i had known about the verification i would not have this problem.

I wonder how many people have to get pissed off before they change something?

I would suggest consistent pestering, with the facts of the problem, let them know that you are going to ask all your friends and in turn that they ask their friends to boycott Comcast.

I did that with Toshiba, and after I had sent them a copy of about 12 emails with support to boycott Toshiba, did finally get my problem resolved, it was a slow but persistent effort but in the end worked.

I think if companies realize that you will not go away quietly and you are willing to battle for what you think is right, they will in most cases try to resolve the problem, so you just go away. Also, try talking to someone in the next rung up on the ladder, seems to help too.

GOOD LUCK ! :chainsaw:

i am paying the $40 for my bill at the discounted price but i won't pay the EFT fee. I am currently waiting till Wednesday to call them up again and they will tell me if i am still on my original contract or if my prices have increased.

Until then i wait.

Anyone know of the probability of me staying with my contract? I have already told them i had not known about there calls and i have always paid my bills full and on time. Granted it's only 2-3 months but i'm a first customer.

The problem with a verbal contract is they can say, "We never said that. Prove it" and then can pretty much charge you with whatever they want. As Crusty mentioned, you need to bug the hell out of them until they cave and give you what they said. Its a screw up on their end, not yours. And if they tell you that you are going to get something, they need to stick to it.

Ugh, I hate these internet people sometimes. They are such a pain in the arse to try and work with and even worse when they dont speak fluent English! lol

i was lucky and found 3 normal English speaking people who were actually nice. I understood every word they said. What are the chances of finding 3 of them in a row o.O

Juust reread your post, about the verbal part. If it was verbal then they can not and should not expect you to pay them, when they say that the offer was not available in your area. And then can not charge you an early termination fee for something that was never in existence in the first place :?: :?:
