Ripping NES music...

Postby Kherr » Wed Oct 20, 2010 11:12 am

Hey guys, I've been ripping NES music from various games, and I've asked HT if he thinks that it's a good idea that we offer these for download as well on here as unlimited members only...

I downloaded both of these and they sound good. What do we even call this section? How many systems/games do we store music for?

It is very cool having said that and would make excellent mobile phone ring tones.

I'd say you could call it the Game Music page, but even retro tunes or retro ringtones would work. I could handle it for you, but for now I can only record NES music, as I'm actually RECORDING instead of ripping .NSF files... I have an HD input and output sound card so I get top notch recordings. I like the "Retro Tunes / Retro Ringtones" idea. I'd go with that myself. We could start with NES music, and move on to like SNES and Genesis music. Mostly formats everyone knows, and store all the MAJOR games first, then move on to weird and unheard of games last. I can also make any format of audio file. I have a program that converts audio to any format, so I could do lossless codecs as well. :3

Ive used some NES tunes before as ringtones on my DX. The sites that ive visited to find such tunes are very wary about acutally ripping the music for legal issues and so instead the use other programs to synth something as close as they can to the original.
Just throwing that out there. Id love a tunes section but just wanted to make that aware

I think it is an awesome idea that the game music could be for only unlimited users. It might make people go register and/or donate. I don't think many people know of ROM sites that also have game music as well.

They are all good and I think we should have a go at hosting them. Keep making them and when you think you have enough I will start a new section.

Well, alright. I'll just start finding the bigger major titles on the NES and getting music from them. I'll let you all know when I get quite the few recorded. :3 (You didn't have a problem with the NDS music? Cool.) Oh,and on my youtube channel is where you'll find a complete upload of everything I've ripped thus far.
