I have to admit that was an excellent pitch for the SNES and the advantages of it. However my motive isn’t financial and not too bothered about cost efficiency of exploring SNES, so I’ll explain a little more about why I am on these forums.
My partner lived in the US for several years (We are British) where she garnered her experience of the NES. It wasn’t a mainstream console here in the UK hence my limited knowledge of it, even though, academically speaking I am a software engineer. In fact I didn’t even know what the NES controller looked like until I got my partners one out. I bought her vintage NES gear eBay a couple of years ago to satisfy a nostalgia phase she was going through. My reasons for exploring NES emulators & controllers is for a Christmas present for someone who otherwise has everything.
I want to get her an Emulator with two USB NES controllers with every ROM – all these http://www.theoldcomputer.com/roms/inde ... do/NES/USA. I have someone in India downloading and unzipping them all right now, I’ll write an installer for it to make a complete Plug & Play PC based NES system in-a-box.
I discreetly asked her about SNES last night but she seemed less than enthusiastic and I don’t think she has any experience of it, so it’s a pair of NES controllers I am looking for because of her familiarity with them.
