Wanting to Upgrade my MAME

Postby Rotgut » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:01 pm

Hey, hope all is well everyone! Thanks for all you do, Boss!

So I have a couple of quick questions. I have been running MAME v.0.128 for nearly 5 years and would like to do a re-install using a much newer version. Someone suggested v.0.167 ? What do you recommend? I want to be able to start taking advantage of all the HLSL stuff.

Secondly, when I go to your Roms section for MAME, is there a "Full Set" of roms that will run on v.0.167 ? I'm confused as to what roms I should be downloading for a specific version of MAME. I'm trying to avoid an eternal easter egg hunt, so I'd prefer a full set? I am extremely lost, I'm not going to lie.

Thanks in advance :)

Hello,

My question is very similar. I've been running a version of MAME32 on a dual-core Windows XP machine for at least 7 years and am finally ready to make the jump to a modern PC. I'm going to build one based on an i5 or i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 4TB of storage and a dedicated video card. I suspect this rig will run most of the available ROMs at a playable speed.

Since I'm basically starting over, what's the best way to obtain the latest/greatest working ROM set? Do I have to start with a "base" ROM set and then download ROM set updates until I'm current?

Thanks,

LKNY
