Is GameEx a Good User Interface?

Postby Rotgut » Sat Nov 22, 2014 8:15 pm

Hey, one question I wanted to ask you guys.

I have been using HyperSpin (original ver) and managed to get several emulators to run off of it over the years. But I went through hell getting most of those to run — and I came up against roadblocks on many emulators when I tried to get them to run off of it (Intellivision, Odyssey2, Sega Saturn, PlayStation). I've been so frustrated about that, for years, so I was wondering if I should switch over to GameEx as my interface...? What do you think of GameEx versus Hyperspin, with regard to ease of setting up the emulators? I love the look of Hyperspin but man, the set up and the manipulation of data files, customization, etc make me crazy. Any thoughts? Thanks for reading. :)

I've had limited success with GameEX and none with HyperSpin both are somewhat complicated. I've found that LaunchBox and its add on BigBox (only available in premium version) are both great some systems are extremely easy to use and others are a little more complex (Sega Saturn's SSF) but it is actually pretty straight forward and the user community is very helpful when any issues arise.

https://www.launchbox-app.com/big-box here is a link to a demo video of BigBox.

I can't stress enough how enjoyable this program is for managing and using your emulators. I would highly recommend giving it a look.

Hey there,

I have no experience with GameEx so far and have always used HyperSpin.
Concerning the configuration of several emulators; that can be quite a hassle indeed!

The Saturn, Playstation, DreamCast and other cd-based emulators are working at my setup at this moment.
If you are interested, I can send you a complete setup on a usb disk which includes loads of emu's & roms.

But ofcourse, if you have any specific questions concerning HyperSpin, I will try to be of aid.
