if you cannot update to a new version of windows, or reformat to original state.. you may consider using a persistent linux live cd (Ubuntu) and trying some of the emulators on there. You may have luck with that, with a bit of configuring and whatnot, and it will not change the Windows you are using now at all.

i don't think my rig could support any OS newer than what i have now. i tried upgrading to win XP one time but the winXP installation disk said that my rig would not support it. you can find the specs for my rig here: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=285&p=11294#p11294 . i update these specs anytime i make changes to my rig's hardware. i would buy a new PC but i have no money nor any way to get any (don't ask why cuz i ain't tellin why).
