I too agree and disagree with charging for membership and the points/token system is a good idea. and i wouldn't mind waiting for more ads to load because this site is incredibly awesome.
but, i'm like alot of people and am unemployed. which is rough because i'm a born gamer and i use emulators and roms to increase my library and continue my life style when i don't have any money to buy any software for my systems(i have 7 game systems not counting my PC).i guess what i'm saying is i would rather wade through ads and\or collect points/tokens than have to leave this site becaues i couldn't afford a paid membership. i mean, i just found a place on the net where i fit in. it would really suck if i had to leave.

There's no reason to leave this place, even if you don't have an unlimited account, simply because we're a thriving community focused on a friendly environment for all, unlike 99.9% of the other websites on the internet, and over 90% of the site is still free to anyone, no unlimited account needed.

We always like having fresh new people to talk to around here, and while it would be nice to have access to the N64 library (at least) without an unlimited account we use the donations to keep this place running for everyone to enjoy. I look at it like this: Am I willing to donate a little bit of spare cash (even when I was unemployed) to help keep an amazing place that I wouldn't want to see go down stay afloat, or should I just be like everyone else and go to the numerous other ROM sites on the web where I can't guarantee that I'll be respected like I am here... So I found a way to give $30 USD (two separate $15 USD donations) to this place. I do believe I'll be making another donation really soon because I just found work myself. Believe me, I know what you're going through. Just try out the monthly raffle for a free unlimited account for life. We always honor the unlimited raffle.

you don't need to leave just cause you cant download every single rom on toc,most of the site is free.

plus you have members who help around if you ask nicely with emulation stuff.

Dont worry, you dont need to leave. My 'strong' suggestion is to enter the monthly raffle. Sometimes more than one entry wins

it looks like i shot off my mouth before i had all of the info. i didn't see that there were more pages of this forum and i made my comment based on only part of the forum. i was worried that i would have to pay for any level of membership. i have no plans to leave this site.i mean with people like you all, who would want to leave .

I think the members that already have unlimited status should be able to keep that unlimited status because they have donated already and were already promised unlimited for life.

It's already set up so that members who have unlimited stay unlimited. We have no plans on changing that.

I know a rom site that gives its members points every day for free, and an option to purchase points in bulk. The free points are only 10 or 25 points every 12 or 24 hours (not too sure) But personally i would also like the option for users to pay a higher price (one-time fee) for a lifetime account. I would happily pay up front and skip the "points" system altogether.

Also to gain points it requires members to post more, thus gaining more forum activity. I hate the idea of paying "monthly" or per-download, etc. Or from now on all new members the terms change before registering..
