Playstation DOOM files...

Postby Kherr » Tue Mar 13, 2012 7:34 pm

Ok, I'm still a very big noob when it comes to emulating the playstation... but I've never had an issue with loading games on it. I downloaded a copy of DOOM (which I own on physical disc) for the playstation and I'm using EPSXe 1.6.0 (simply because 1.7.0 doesn't support disc switching, always errors out) and the DOOM game comes in 8 .bin files and one .cue file which mounts into Daemon Tools Lite (or any other disc mounting software), but EPSXe cannot see the mounted virtual drive and my computer's disc drive is shot. I can't remember how to make all eight of the .bin files into one usable .ISO or .bin file for use with the emulator because if you try loading track1.bin it simply gets to the loading screen and then freezes because it's missing the other seven track bin files... I honestly cannot remember the program I had that took separate .bin files and made them into one usable file for running on a PSX emulator... I need some halp. >.>'

Oh, and I've tried mounting the .cue file into Daemon Tools Lite and it does give me the disc that I'm supposed to have, so I archived everything that was in that virtual drive into an ISO file, but it's not working. I used WinRAR to make the ISO file too btw. >.>'

you need to merge all the files in one stream of iso

power-iso can do that as do other programs

I just simply tried mounting the image and then making a .iso with Img-Burn of the data the disc contained when mounted, and it does the same thing as before: It gets to the loading screen and then freezes... I'm beginning to think that our copy might possibly be corrupted... When I get my new computer I'll try making a 1:1 copy of the disc with SecuROM enabled and see if it can load that .ISO file and if it works then I know that our copy is corrupted... etc etc etc. For now, I found a PC copy of the PSXDOOM that's been fully converted so that it works just as if you were on the playstation. lol.

That is what you suppose to do

On a more technical, (And less jovial way). The Dump of Doom that you have should be the Redump Image. To use them with epsxe, you need to mount them with daemon tools, and then tell ePSXe that you have "Inserted" the CD into the Virtual CD-Drive.

is there a reason that this needs to be done as opposed to just running the iso in epsxe?

If the Disc image was one iso, then yes running thru epsxe would produce no problem. But with Doom and a few others you need to load it up like that as it consist of various tracks that was dumped, by Redump, as separate tracks. ePSXe is a bit uneducated to load these disc images.

Why Redump decided to dump it that way and not just one single dump, I have no clue.
