Battle Toads MAME rom not working

I dont know if I am doing it properly but BattleToads which I got from the site doesnt seem to want to load. I dont know if I am missing a bios or some other dependecy file I got it out of the 0.144 set and I dont see any other updates to the rom.

do you use mame 0.144?

diffrent version mame and diffrent version mame rom is a good guess on why this wont work for you.

if you use mameUI do an audit and see if you get errors.

make sure it is the parent and not the clone rom

****EDIT: make sure to back up your roms before an audit cause it mess the structure of working/non working roms if the roms have issues.

you can play battle toads on other machines,nes and snes both have battle toads and battle toads&double dragon.

I saw I was missing bsmt2000.bin which I fixed.
