World Class Bowling Deluxe makes trackball freeze

Using mame32 on XP I had no problems but for the first time playing 4 players on mame64 my trackball on the xarcade tankstick stopped working.
Does that sound like a bad rom issue? maybe mameuifx64 isn't the best to use??
it didn't work in windows but worked when i reset the computer.
