Getting Dreamcast games to work.

Hi I am new to the site but not to emulation I have been a fan of retro gaming since before it was retro gaming. I have never had any issues using the older systems I suppose because they are more simple they are easier to use. Today I took my first shot at emulating Dreamcast and I seem to be having issues with the game I downloaded not being in any form that MakaronEX recognizes. I tried using both the unzipped and zipped file but still not luck. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong and how to fix

hello there mate

makron is more suited for arcade boards based on the dreamcast (NAOMI) then for casual dreamcast emulation.

there are two good emulators for "normal" dreamcast gaming.

1) Demule, strong emulator that can play NAOMI 1/2 games as well as other systems, not very user frindely since the team translated it from Russian.

2)NullDC,good,fast,play nearly all games.

the "trick" is to use the latest svn build and not the last official stable version on the project homepage.

follow the white rabbit at: http://www.emucr.com/2013/03/nulldc-svn-r150.html

edit: don't forget to set the right bios for the right region of the game you try to play, you can "patch"/set it to auto region in the config menu.

also don't forget to set up the vmu (memory card) or you wont be able to save.

Thanks! Do you know if they explain how to set up the VMU I don't know anything about it but if there are good text instructions I can do just about anything its just a matter of learning.

start the emulator

go to the config menu

choose the vmu/memory card config sub menu.

add 1 or 2 vmus

close and save/press apply

choose boot>no disc.

on the system screen go to memory card and do a format, adjust the icon of the vmu.

you're done

enjoy
