Where to report not working games?

Hi,

I just tried the DOS game "Raptor_Call_Of_The_Shadows_(1994)(Apogee_Software_Ltd)" and it doesn't work.
It says: "Critical file FILE_ID.DIZ missing"

Is this the right place to report games that are not working?

I have now moved this to the support forum. Unfortunately we are simply not able to check every rom (500,000 and counting) so it may be that this is just not complete. That said very often with PC DOSBOX you need to check your configuration correctly. If the game had a setup.exe or BAT file, try running that to get it working.

if the file isn't to large for me to download, i'll check it in both DosBox and MS_DOS 7.10 (hacked win98 dos)

I tried to run setup but it acts the same.
The shareware version works well:
Code: Select all
http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/raptor-call-of-the-shadows/

I am using DosBOX with D-Fend in Windows 7 64 bit.

I think it's a good idea to mention somewhere the issues with games, so for the moment I will post them in this thread.

Other games that don't work:
Volfied_(1991)(Empire_Interactive_Entertainment).zip - when you start the executable it will enter in some kind of editor instead of starting the game. I found a working version at:
Code: Select all
http://www.oldgamz.com/game.php?id=2515

Code: Select all
http://www.oldgamz.com/wp-content/dosgames/volfied.jar

and it works ok

Please enclose outside links within code tags

Thanks, Crusty

i can confirm that the file "FILE_ID.DIZ" is missing from "Raptor_Call_Of_The_Shadows_(1994)(Apogee_Software_Ltd)". i'll have a look at volfield today and see what i can find out.

the Volfied from here works just fine. the screen that you though was an editor is some sort of password screen. though for some reason, it's really easy to to bypass it by placing random squares in the white box.

The version at oldgamz works just better - it starts directly the game, as it's supposed to be.
The "volfied.jar" file contains a "volfied.img" file, both can be open with 7-zip.

"volfied.img" contains the full game, in case someone has the time to repack it into zip and to upload it on the server, that would be nice.

i have downloaded the copy of volfied that was at oldgamz and i have reviewed its contents. i have determined that the copy from oldgamz is incomplete, missing the files that support CGA, EGA, and TGA graphics. furthermore, it is missing the "readme.doc" file. which contains the Loading Instructions, Installation Guide and Game Controls. therefore it is my personal opinion that the copy of volfied from oldgamz should not be added to the servers of theoldcomputer.com.
