Hey

I did a search but couldnt find a thread on this yet. Im obviously very green with MAME stuff but Im starting to get the lay of the land. An issue Im having is with Cave/Atlus roms. Im using the correct romset (139s) but they are not appearing.

Am I correct in thinking this could be due to a missing bios?

Do bios need to correspond to the romset? ie. neogeo bios for .139s would be different to the same bios of .144s

Is there a rough outline of which bios refer to which particular company/catalogue of games?

Reward for Answer: Every following post that is made by the successful answererer will receive a slow approving nod from myself. Forever.

you can right click the list of games, on an individual rom, and choose 'audit' this will tell you what you have or don't have and I believe also any discrepencies in files you have but are not correct version (I don't think it'll tell you what version you have, simply size:xx size found:yy or soemthing similar, been awhile since i booted up MAME)

No, that is incorrect for the Cave/Atlus games DoDonPachi, DonPachi, ESP Ra.de., and Guwange. These games do not have a BIOS. Like SE7EN advised, you can audit games to check what is missing.

Basically, yes, BIOS files need to pass audit for the particular MAME version number being used, the same as ROMs.

There is an exact outline in the MAME GUI itself. In the left pane of the GUI there is folder called BIOS. Expand it see all the BIOS systems and their associated game lists.
