Can't download ROMs!

When I click on the link it just reloads the page but no download! Since it says the folders are available to R and I have registered it should work!

I was just in the rom section and tried three different system roms and everything worked for me. Be more specific on what you are trying to download and for which system, and we may be more able to help. Stating that you registered and can not download gives us no idea where to check. Thanks

1. Go to the main page theoldcomputer.com and click on the green "Download Rom's picture at the top of the page.

2. Click to login.

3. Click on "Commodore" down the list, then "Amiga", "Games", then click on...

3a. "[EXE]", "Arkanoid - Revenge of Doh" (Above the list it says the folder is available to R and U. My access rights are G and R so it should work, right?) I click on the Arkanoid link and it opens the download page. I click on the link "Click to Download Rom" and it just reloads the page. No download starts!

3b. "[ADF]", "z", any of the "Zynaps" links close to the bottom of the list. All same. Just keeps reloading the download page.

It worked perfectly to download emulators but not ROM's, which made me wonder if I in fact have to pay to download these ROMs. If so than it's not clear why since it says it's available to "R" users above the list!

Ok, i followed your steps as you posted them, and i was able to replicate your problem, being sent back to the main page.

My solution to the problem was when I clicked to log in, I did not click the login symbol to actually login as my user name and password were already present, and was returned to the main page, the next time i clicked login, I manually filled in use rname , password, hit login button and was presented with the download page. pressed download button and download started.

The majority of roms are available to both registered members and guests and guests with a few exceptions to some roms that are available only to unlimited members.

Hmn. The only login I can see is the green text with capitals that says "[ LOGIN ]". That's the one I click on and a small popup opens where I type in user name and password and click on the login button. When I click to download a ROM the page with the green link "Click to Download Rom" just keeps reloading. No save as page opens.

Anyone else? Can't believe I'm the only one having this problem!

Until i get to my work PC on Monday I cant fully test what you are experiencing. That said I was able to download without issues while on my iPad even when not loggin in until at the download screen.

For now just make sure to do the following.

While in in the roms section click the logout option. Then reclick the login button and provide your login details. If you log in successfully the info box ( just above the list of rom manufacturers) will now show your username and you status properly. Once this is the case, continue through selecting the rom you are after and when the download popup box appears you will not need to login again, sinply click and download.

If this is not the case please post back here again.

Ok, I've solved it, sort of. I can download ROM's with Firefox, but with the Comodo Dragon browser I can only download emulators! Because I could download emulators I didn't think it could be the browser. Doesn't make any sense to me.
