Snes mega pack issue

Hello to all who read this. I have come to address a situation that has me gnawing my fingers clean off my hand.

I had downloaded the two files required to run the snes mega-holy-cow-all-games-ftw usa edition, and the 7zip program to "unzip" them. After the download, I attempted to unzip to the separate folder as I have come to realize I needed to do, but the finished product from that is unplayable as of this moment. Instead of having the .001 and .002 files, I now have a 7z(1) file.

I know I'm missing a step in this process, but dag-gonnit, I don't know what it is. Assistance, anyone?

I tried unzipping both the .002 file as well as the 7z(1) file the first zip created and it won't let me do either.

I just checked these and they seem to be working ok. Just do the following.

First download both files as they appear on the website to a folder of your choice.

Nintendo-SNES-USA-Mega-Rom-Pack.7z.001
Nintendo-SNES-USA-Mega-Rom-Pack.7z.002

Then install 7Zip onto your PC. Once installed, double click the 'Nintendo-SNES-USA-Mega-Rom-Pack.7z.001' file and you should see the archive open up in a new window with a folder called USA. From within that folder you will see all the available roms in individual ZIP files. Select some or all of these files or indeed just select the folder called USA and extact it to a new location on your harddisk. Once extracted you can use the individual files with your emulator. Some emualtors may require that you further expand the ZIP file into its seperate files/folders.

I hope this helps.

While I should thank you Hot Trout for the nice tutorial on how to do this, and I am sure future gamers will appreciate what you said as well, I have to tip my hat to GamfrkI for the suggestion on updating 7-zip. I had version 4.derp when they had a version 9.whoa out.

....I feel like a 'tard. Excuse me, "n00b". -_-

Maybe we should add a section on how to use different zip files to the general faq? I am glad it helped.

Yea maybe a how-to with extracing .zip, .7z, and .rar files. It may be of assistance to many issues found on this board... with which I could probably work on that and have it uploaded tomorrow. Possibly, but I'm kinda busy today with other things. I'll give it a shot unless someone else does it before tomorrow. :3
