Some CHD archives broken?

Postby yjmfan » Sun Oct 09, 2011 7:41 pm

I've had trouble extracting a few of the chd archives. For offrthnd.zip, outr2st.zip, and batlgr2.zip, I get extraction errors using Windows native unzipping and 7-zip. Have these been compressed using one of the weird new WinZip algorithms, or could the files really be broken? Thanks for any help.

They were working but it is possible that they have become corrupt. I will not be able to check them for approx a week. If you do not hear anything back (because i forgot) please bump the topic again. I will get this fixed for you.

Thanks. I had a similar problem with the multi-part cliffhgr rar set (cobra worked fine). I'll update if I find any more apparently broken ones.

It seems that about half of the CHD archives I'm testing are corrupted. Here is a list of the ones that do not extract correctly that I've found (there are likely more). Apologies if this ends up being user error, but I downloaded a few of these twice to be sure.

Again sorry guys, been busy.

OK, I looked at the CHD's in question and also found that they were corrupt. I am going to maybe replace the CHD library with the latest version and fix it that way.

I will get to work on this and update you all soon, because the CHD's are over 200GB it will take some time so please be patient.

Sorry to drag up an old-ish thread, but I've just downloaded the following CHDs and get corruption errors:

avalon20 (avalon13 & avalons both fine)
blitz2k (blitz & blitz99 both fine)

Unfortunately, I'm only on 1.5Mbps out here in the bush in sunny Queensland, so I don't want to risk downloading more only to find they are corrupted as well :(

If someone could check and let me know which CHDs are OK and which are corrupt that would be great.

Thanks for a great site, and keep up the good work.

hey HT if you use win-rar and use the rar format you can add a recovery record up to ten percent which sometimes can help rebuild a corrupt archive, combine this with a self extracting archive and this can reduce errors to some degree.
