Need help with controls

Hello, I'm a total noob at this. I am running FCEUX as my emulator for nes roms. I don't have any other controllers other than mouse and keyboard. Trying to get it to work for Altered Beast. I am running this on XP Pro id that helps. I've been looking for hours to a solution. I appreciate any help you can give me, Thank you much!!!

if your using fceux 2.1.5 to set the controls goto config then input and click configure set controls and done
