Problem extracting MAME Single-Download-Mega-Packs Roms

Postby wukovits » Sun Jan 01, 2012 6:02 pm

I have iMaME for my iPad 2 and stumbled upon this site and forum. I saw that the single download packs required higher access, so I donated $15 to the site and then downloaded the three files for the set, each ending in .7z.001, 002, and 003. After downloading the files, the only file I can open in 7zip is the .001 file, the other two refused to be recognized as archives. I've tried downloading these twice now.

Help?

Many times you'll get archive files that are split like this. The secret here is that you need to join these together, and then you'll be able to open it up and get all of the files out.

There are plenty of programs that will do this, but for Ipad I have no idea which to suggest. However, once you get one, you select the join function, and browse to the first file in the set. The program will automatically find the other parts, and rebuild the archive and you'll be able to open the resulting joined file as normal.

If you download all the parts of the archive into the same folder, i.e. 001, 002 etc. Then when you try to unzip or extract the archive, simply choose the 001 file and the 7zip or ARJ program should simply use the other parts automatically. You should not need to do anything with the 002, 003 etc files.

I hope this makes sense. If you need to any more please just post again.

OK, I'm trying to extract the files on Windows 7 64-bit, using 7zip v9.2. All three files are in a folder by themselves. When I try to extract from the first file (.001), I get an unspecified error. When I try to open .002 or .003, it says they can't open the file as an archive. I'm no stranger to compression or 7zip, so I'm hoping that there's something I'm doing completely wrong that will open these files up for me, especially since I paid the donation just to get these files.
