I have a couple of ROM problems

Postby GAMESHARQ » Sat Jun 12, 2010 3:01 pm

My first problem is with the ROM WWF WrestleMania Challenge for NES (gpfce-wiz). All of the screens display fine except for one. The opening sequence, match selection, and character selection screens all display fine, but the screen when the match begins is distorted.

As you will see in the above picture, the image breaks up into two parts. You can see the right corner of the ring twice, but you can't see the rest of the ring or the players. Is there any way to fix this, like in settings? Would it help if I redownloaded the ROM and reinstalled it? Or do you think I should try to find the ROM somewhere else?

My second problem is that my MAME4ALL emulator is not recognizing a couple of my MAME ROMs. I have 4 roms, and it only recognizes two of them (The Simpsons and TMNT). The two that it does not recognize are WWF WrestleFest and WWF Superstars. I tried to installing the alternate versions of those roms, but they still don't show up on my ROMs list. What should I do? Should I switch to a different MAME version? I am using MAME on a Wiz GP2X, so I'm not sure which MAME versions are compatible other than MAME4ALL.

Any help would be much appreciated.

At first I would have said that it was probably a problem with the emulator, since the Wiz port of gpfce is an unstable test version.

But there does appear to be something wrong with that particular ROM on this site. I think it's one of the "bad dump" versions of the ROM put on here by mistake, maybe. I downloaded from a different site and it's fine.

Try downloading it elsewhere (just make sure there isn't a "b1" or "b2" or something in it's a name. That denotes a "bad dump". Why people host these, I don't know).

As for the MAME problem, I don't think MAME4All support those games. Sorry.

BTW, you should have all sets of a game together (and don't change their names). For example, those alternate sets you speak of should be kept together with the rest. Some games need each of those sets to work.

Would you happen to know which MAME supports those games and works on the Wiz? WrestleFest was one of the games I was looking forward to playing most and one of the main reasons I bought a Wiz in the first place.

Mame4All (based on MAME 0.37b5) is the only MAME on the Wiz. And according to the supported games list for MAME 0.37b5, you aren't going to be able to play those games on your Wiz. Sorry.

However, I think the developers/porters of MAME4All might be able to hack in support for those games if they chose to. The first version of MAME to support those WWF games is MAME 0.37b16... not far off from the version MAME4All is based on. Maybe you should ask the porter if it's possible and request it. Who knows. Just ask on the gp32x.com forums... I saw you made this same post on there too, heh.

Edit:

Hold on. I think you can play those games on FBA2x on the Wiz (another emulator for some arcade games). Look into it. I use FBA320 on my Dingoos.

Edit #2:

I switched my little FBA2x guide over to your other thread, since it seemed more appropriate.
