Seawolf MAME ROM

I always loved this old game, but for the life of me, I cannot get it to display Tubes/Loading, nor does it have any sound.

I am using MAME .184 (I think).

Any ideas at all would be appreciated. I miss me some sonar and buzzing PT boats.

before we can help you, we will need to know the following things:

Which operating system you are running mame on?
Which version of mame you are running? i know you said that you think it is version .184, but we need to be certain of which version you are running before we can try to troubleshoot the problem.
Are you using any frontend programs? and if so, which frontend are you using and what version is it?
Is Seawolf the only mame rom that you are having this issue with?

answering the above questions will help us get a start on narrowing down the possible issue(s). it may take some time to figure out the cause of your problems, but we will try to get an answer to you as fast as we can.

Dragon Mech, thanks for the response! I am running Mame64 .189 on a Win7 system powered by a Haswell i3. I am using the latest Hyperspin as a front end.

I figured out the problem with no "RELOAD" - it was a screen setting. So that's fine. My problem is that there is zero sound - and it is the only ROM that I have that I have sound issues with. All others are fine. It doesn't matter if I load it from HS, RL, or direct from MAME - the result is the same. Does anyone have sound on this game? That is my first question - as MAME says that the sound is "imperfect".

i'm sorry that it has taken so long to respond. i have 56k Dial-up internet. so it's taking me a long time to get all of the needed files to help you. this is my first time trying MAME, so please bare with me. and thank you for the information. this will help setup MAME on my end to test the rom and see if i can help with the sound issue.

No, I do not have those files, although my Hyperspin media plays all sounds in the "preview" video. I have them now, (thanks!) but where do they go?

edit: doing follow-up searching with your tips, I found that the files go in the "samples" directory, and there were other games that needed them.
It's all working perfectly now. Again, thanks for the help. I would have likely floundered forever.
