Information on systems available at TOC

Postby crustyasp46 » Mon Oct 04, 2010 9:36 pm

I am thinking that a little history on the systems that have roms and emulators available here, would be kind of a bonus. As there are systems featured here that I have never heard of. I can look them up on wikipedia, but again a one stop shopping experience. I will volunteer to do much the same as what I just posted for the Sega Naomi?

Are you thinking of a new forum for this info. That way you could create a thread for each system, under a folder of that system. This could also act as the forum for said system.

That would probably be the best way to do it, as then everything related to individual systems , emulators, roms, and difficulties could be combined into that system heading. It also gives the person to read a brief history on the system. Which I think would be great for the site. Also, maybe we could involve a couple of other interested members, as they would likely have better internet speed than I have and those involved would feed the info to one person so there would be no duplication, and each person could take a certain amount of systems each to gather the info and feed it to whoever was going to upload to the site. Other than that 1 person could do it and upload daily as they gather the info.

My thought is that if you involve a few more people in projects for the site, then you create greater interest in the site, and maybe more and better ideas are created.:hi:

i was just about to suggest something similiar to this. But i was thinking of adding say a paragraph or 2 on the roms section of this site. So when i go to the Sega Game Gear roms under the picture of a game gear will be the paragraphs with a short overview of what the game gear was.

:goodpost:

That also is a good idea, Gozmitjosh, I put it forward for here as I thought and am hopeful, that by having it on the forums may direct a little more attention to the forum area. But again my idea was only a suggestion, and other ideas and suggestions are great to have, and then the best solution can be worked out.

I can allow you to add info to the roms database and also the forums but this would be double the work as there is no link between them both. That said if you want to carve out an area of this site as yours, this would be some project.

Serious amount of work but also a serious amount of respect. I simply dont have the time to do this as well.

It's up to you, let me know if you want to undertake almost 300 systems of info :wtf:

I am willing to work on this, for the forum part of it, and maybe as I suggested I can round up a couple of volunteers to help, and make it a neat and tidy addition.

Also, if you wanted to do it as well in the Roms section, if Gozmitjosh is willing, he could do that area with help.

Or we can work together to compile, both areas. I will work up an example of what I am thinking of doing and PM both you and Gozmitosh, with what I am thinking.

I agree that we need a standard template that is followed each time. Can you make suggestions on the field names that will be used.

I was thinking of just using the system name eg. The ACORN COMPUTER: THE HISTORY. THE COMMODORE: THE HISTORY, along this line, and maybe moving the computing history post as the opening post into a new forum titled Computing History, Facts, systems information.

Am very open to suggestions on this
