Anime and Manga

So, HT has said it's very quiet on the Forums. I guess I'll post something here that should spark a little debate, and possibly some traffic!

What's your favourite Anime/Manga? They don't need to be the same. Post a little description (or the wikipedia page about it) for the newbies out there who don't know what it is. Also, say why you like it, who your favorite characters are, etc. Don't flame when you don't need to!

Myself? I'm a huge fan of the Bleach manga. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleach_(manga)) I love all the swordfighting and darkness in the series, as well as the characters. Ichigo is my favourite character, just because he's that typical "cool" kid. The plot is awesome, by the way. Check it out.

As for Anime, I LOVE Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullmetal_Alchemist#Fullmetal_Alchemist:_Brotherhood) It stays true to the Manga, and the plot just gets better and better as it goes along. Fantastic voice acting, as well. My all-time favourite, though, is Neon Genesis EVANGELION (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neon_Genesis_Evangelion) (which is also an n64 game that we don't have here, by the way. I believe I can provide it.). NGE is my favourite simply because of the vast psychological problems that each character undergoes. As an Arts student, I find it fascinating. The ending is extremely controversial, though, so be warned!

Now for you guys!

Great post!

My first introduction to anime was with the awesome adventure Ghost in the Shell.

Later I became a great fan of Studio Ghibly movies: Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Howl's moving castle, Princess Mononoke and ofcourse Spirited Away. Also, a few years ago I also used to watch the movie 'Blood - The Last Vampire' quite a lot. It's amazing!

Ghost in the Shell for me but to be honest I am not a huge fan. Some films I really like but I can't pretend to be an authority on it.

Really stinow? You're intro to anime was GiTS? seriously? My very first anime would have had to have been DragonBall... followed by pokemon and then DragonBall Z. :3

Don't get me wrong though, GiTS is an amazing show. I enjoy it when I manage to catch it. :3

Hi Roman,

Nice movies :).

You made me remember one thing; Akira was also my first anime I saw instead of Gits.

@Kherr, yea I know.. damn dutch television. They were really late with showing Dragonball Z. But in the end I watched every episode about 3 times and had them all on my pc also ;).

:good:

My first anime MOVIE was also Akira. I was big into other anime style shows before that like Speed Racer, Voltron, Tranzor Z, Lupin III. They were fun shows for a kid!

I like Akira alot, but the issue I had for those movies back then were the horrible translations and voice acting. Atrocious!!
:headbang:

The most screwed up thing I've EVER SEEN on film was a Japanese anime called Urotsukidoji. WOW, talk about nuts!
:freakout:

I really don't watch anymore, kinda outgrew it I guess.
