ok ladies and gentlemen (and that fuzzy monster in the corner :freakout: ).
i am proud to announce that i did get my computer yesterday. but before you all start throwing confetti and start with the marry making, i do have some bad news. sometime during shipping, the cpu became dislodged from the motherboard and was allowed to rattle around in the computer. as a result of this, many of the pins have been bent. some more severe than others. while i was attempting to straighten the pins, one of them broke. rendering the cpu useless and dead :chainsaw: :chainsaw: .
so untell i can find a replacement cpu, the computer will be put in a safe place as to avoid any futher damage (and loss of sanity). but i have taken some pictures of the computer and i will tell you all as much as i know about it.

Just did a local search of Kijiji for a CPU, no luck :( . But found this out about the 9500 :

AMD Phenom X4 9500

Core revisions BA and B2, which correspond to part numbers ending with "BGC" and "BGD" respectively, had a Translation Look-aside Buffer (TLB) bug where, under certain conditions, the processor could lock up when loading cached TLB data. This bug was referenced in AMD documentation as errata 254: "Internal Resource Livelock Involving Cached TLB Reload". Temporary bug fix was to disable TLB caching, which had negative impact on processor performance. The temporary fix (or patch) was implemented in BIOS, and was also included into operating systems. On some motherboards it was possible to disable the patch in BIOS and thus increase performance by 10% on average. In cases, when disabling the patch was not supported by a motherboard, or when the patch was enabled by operating system regardless of the BIOS settings, it was still possible to disable the patch by manipulating MSR registers directly with the help of software tools.

The person I got the computer from complained about a lot of freeze up, so am wondering if this may have been the problem? Although it never froze here when I had it.

Also wondering how many computers were sold with this faulty CPU, taken in for warranty work and told that there was no problem or they had a virus and/or told it was some other problem not covered by warranty and ended up paying extra for what was a faulty computer??

Consumer ripped off again. :headbang: :x

so it would be a socket AM2 (maybe AM2+) and should be fairly easy to find a replacement, even if not the exact CPU.
