README | Zero Tolerance Policy (NEW MEMBERS MUST READ)

I am initiating a "Zero Tolerance Policy" for anything listed in this thread. If you are found in violation of ANY of the rules posted here, you will be immediately banned via your Account and the IP address you last posted from. Length of Bans will be determined at the time of your ban. For a full list of the rules, they can be found HERE.

This list is subject to change at ANY TIME, so read it often.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

1. SOLICITATION

Solicitation is NOT TOLERATED on TheOldComputer.com in ANY way, unless approved by the site owner Hot Trout, myself, or by any of the Global Moderators. These links include but are NOT limited to:

Links to products or digital merchandise for sale of ANY KIND whether your own or someone else's (unless posted in the respective "For Sale" boards at the bottom of the list, provided they respectively belong in said boards). Links to free digital merchandise (such as music that YOU created that is free for download from either trusted or un-trusted sources)

Links that are NOT solicitation include but are NOT limited to:

Youtube videos that are about retro gaming or are just plain cool, we have a youtube embedding tag available, do NOT post links to youtube (unless embedding the video is turned off by the video owner). Retro gaming related articles or music.

As you come to be a more respected member of the community, links to your own creations that are FREE will be allowed. IN YOUR FIRST FEW POSTS DO NOT POST A COMMENT OR SOMETHING THAT IS EXTREMELY SIMPLE AND IN IT HAVE A LINK TO YOUR CONTENT EITHER IN THE POST OR IN YOUR SIGNATURE. I WILL BAN YOU IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT WARNING IF THE ONLY REASON YOU REGISTERED WAS TO POST LINKS TO FURTHER YOUR OWN ENDS.

2. DISRESPECTING OTHER MEMBERS

This hasn't been an issue really, but I just want to get it out there that I WILL BAN YOU IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT WARNING for disrespecting either a normal member or any of the staff here on TheOldComputer.com. Here is a list of THE STAFF

3. LINKS TO ILLEGAL OR OTHERWISE NSFW CONTENT

This also hasn't been an issue really, but I again just want to get it out there that I WILL BAN YOU IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT WARNING for posting links to ANY KIND OF ILLEGAL CONTENT OR OTHERWISE NSFW CONTENT. This place is visited by ALL AGES, and as such should be treated as a family-oriented place. Examples of these links would include:

Links to torrent websites or crack programs or even generally illegal content. Links to pornography or NSFW content such as vore or mutilation. Links to illegal music or movie downloads (or streaming) and whatever sites they reside on.

4. LINKS TO COMPETING ROM/EMULATION WEBSITES

If you should feel the need to tell us that we don't have a particular ROM that you are looking for please send a PM to Hot Trout. If you should feel the need to tell us that we're outdated on some emulators please send a PM to Alzabo. If, for any reason, you post a SINGLE or even MULTIPLE links to competing ROM/Emulation websites out there, I WILL IMMEDIATELY BAN YOU WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS CONSIDERED SOLICITATION AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Last, and certainly not least is...

5. LINKS TO ROMS FROM THE LAST 2 CONSOLES TO BE RELEASED BY A COMPANY, INCLUDING THEIR HANDHELDS

SIMPLY PUT, DO NOT POST LINKS TO ANY SITE OR TORRENT FILE THAT OFFERS FREE DOWNLOAD OF ANY ROMS AND/OR EMULATORS ON THIS FORUM BOARD. YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY BANNED WITHOUT WARNING! WE DO NOT CARRY THE 2 LATEST SYSTEMS FROM ANY CATEGORY FROM ANY COMPANY! WE ARE INTERESTED IN THEM CONTINUING TO MAKE GAMES AND SYSTEMS AND DO NOT WISH TO HARM THEIR PROFITS IN ANY WAY! THEY DESERVE TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF THEIR PROPERTY, AND SO ARE THE GAME DESIGNERS! These systems include but are NOT limited to:

PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Nintendo Wii-U and Nintendo Switch, Nintendo DS/3DS, Playstation PSP and Vita. Android and iPod/iPhone/iPad/iPad2/iPad3.



Should, for any reason, you feel as though your ban was uncalled for, or unjust, you can create a new account and send a PM to either Hot Trout or myself and appeal to have your ban removed. Should the site owner or myself feel that any of the staff or ourselves did in fact ban you unjustly, you will be un-banned and an email should be sent back to you to inform you that your old account is available for use once more.
