Care to Alpha Test for me?

Hello all!

Some months back when I registered my account I mentioned that I am in indie game dev. At that time there seemed to be some interest in my work and so I thought I would offer you lot the chance to Alpha my current project.

I am looking for feedback, crticism (Constructive please. ), suggestions, and ideas.

The game is codenamed 'Rock Jocks', until I come up with a better name or just decide to keep this one. Its a retro arcade style top down shoot em up in the same vein as games like Galaga.

OK so ...

You have something here but

The ship is too dark when compared to the backdrop and is difficult to see
When you respawn, do it at the same place that you died and not back in the middle of the screen
Add linear speed increase to the movement so that you can make a dash across the screen to get the rocks
More graphics and different rocks please

Well the ship is black... I can re-texture it in a different color I suppose.

The only reason I have you respawning in the middle of the screen is because that was common in these sorts of games way back when... Personally I have no problem with updating that aspect of the gameplay.

And you do gain speed in a linear fashion, Im just capping it out at a pretty low value. Which I suppose I could stop doing. The trade-off would need to be setting your speed to 0 if you impact the border. Else you might spend a long time decelerating to switch directions. Ill do some local trials and get back with you.
