Post your main rig. Be as detailed or as general as you like.
MOTHERBOARD: Asus M3A79-T Deluxe
CPU: AMD Phenom Triple Core 8750 Black Edition (2.4 GHz)
RAM: 2 GB (2 sticks of 1 GB G-SKill RAM, dual channeled)
VIDEO: GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB
POWER: 550W Rosewill
HARD DRIVE: 250 GB Seagate
DVDR: Plextor PX-880SA, 24X
CASE: Sunbeam Transformer ATX Full Tower
MONITOR: 22" Acer LCD, 1680x1050, 5ms
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3
I just got that (used) GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB off of ebay. After installing it, I became interested in finding programs for monitoring heat, changing fan speed, etc... I'm pretty much a noob to tweaking my stuff. I got Speedfan, Core Temp, and EVGA Precision. Upon reading what the tools told me (and then checking the BIOS readings), my CPU was idling around 65c (which apparently is dancing near the danger zone)! I don't know how long it's been like that. The whole time? I've had this setup for like a year and a half. Now, upon lowering the voltage to the CPU (and reapplying thermal paste and re-seating the heat sink), it's idling around 45c. On full load for 2 hours with a stress test (Prime 95) it never crashed or went above 48c. So I guess it's fairly cool and stable now. Yay for that.
Anyway, the 8800 GTS seems to be doing it's job. It's slightly overclocked (it's that BFG OC edition) and is idling at 50c with 75% fan speed. I can now play Unreal Tournament 3 (the most graphically intensive game I own) at full settings on my native resolution (1680x1050) at a fairly constant 90 FPS (I capped it at 90 because apparently that's what it's capped at during online play anyway). Which is funny, because TF2 plays pretty much exactly the same as it did before (kinda shitty). Which I guess makes sense, since they say TF2 mostly relies on your CPU. But for me it seems like TF2 plays 2x or 3x worse than UT3. That's just f'd up and makes no sense at all. They need to fix TF2's performance issues.
ANYWAY, post you computer specs, if you feel like it.
