After attacking almost every phone player in the market, and having lost to Nokia, Apple is now planning to ban competitors from selling their products in the US. Apple has filed a complaint with ITC to ban HTC products in the US.
Who is stealing from whom?
Mr Jobs accused competitors of 'stealing' their technologies, whereas most of the iOS 5 appears to be a poor rip-off of the Android. Not only that, Apple was also accused of stealing from its own developer. Apple was accused of removing one developer's app from the AppStore, cutting off his revenues, and then launching it as a feature of iOS 5.
HTC vs Apple
As far as HTC is concerned, HTC was far ahead of Apple when they developed the first PDA iPAQ for Compaq. HTC had the technology and idea far before Apple started to fantasize about it. It may appear to many that it was Apple which stole the idea of iPhone from HTC's PDA iPAQ.
HTC was there before Apple if we are talking about smartphones. HTC pioneered the touch-sceen technology by launching HTC Wizard in 2005, two years before Apple presumably copied the idea and launched its iPhone.
The call to ban HTC is, in my eyes, a shameful act by a company which is scared of competition. If, what Apple claims to be 'stealing was the case, there would have been no Opera, Firefox, Safari or Chrome browsers. There would have been no other cars other than Model-T, there would have been no drink, foods or clothes industries. Wallmart would have sued Target, Office Depot, Best Buy for 'stealing' the idea of departmental store. Amazon would have sued TigerDirect, Best Buy, New Egg, etc, for stealing their idea of online retailing. If we go by Apple's crazy ideo of 'stealing' there will be no market at all.
Apple has always been like that, a dictator which wants to shut everything else down. It's just now that the company has resources to nuke the competitors and leave users with no other choice but to use their products.
Apple is turning the innovative mobile segment into a industry hostile for innovation and competition. As an Apple user, if you are not brain-washed yet, don't you feel disgusted at this move?
