Older PC game I may have imagined!

Postby tinyE » Thu Dec 13, 2012 4:56 pm

I'm about to give up on this one b/c I don't think even Flynn knows what I'm talking about hence I may be imagining the whole thing. It was a demo I downloaded (95,96,97?) that looked A LOT like Solar Winds (perspective, portraits, gameplay) where you played a law officer buzzing around in your little ship taking in and out baddies. Think you even had a siren you had to use (a siren in space!?!?). Also there was an asteroid belt you had to enter periodically when on chase. I vividly remember the demo closing with your character getting blasted to pieces and coming back rebuilt as a cyborg. It was about then the game stopped and told you to buy the rest. If no one here knows it, I've obviously dreamt the whole thing.
Thanks

Hi TinyE,

What exactly was the setting like? Only in space?

Some suggestions that I found that match parts of your description and are all from around '95.
* Hunter's Law

Other (space) options:
* Star Rangers
* Star Crusader

Hope you will find your game soon :good:

It wasn't any of those and I'm feeling a little bad about possibly having sent someone out on a wild goose chase. Oh, and it was all in space.

All is not lost. This quest has got me playing Solar Winds again and that game is a classic. You can keep your Freespace, give me SW!

No dice, but thank you. It wasn't a total loss as some of those titles look really cool. Thanks

I've been looking also, but no luck as of yet. I'll keep the description in mind and if anything turns up, I'll post an update.
