Hi

I am another Video Genie user from yesteryear. My dad used to sell them, so when I was a little kid, I got to play on each of: Genie I, Genie II and the Colour Genie.

I had been searching for the first video game I'd every played.

The game is called Defend, and I had failed to find it until I stumbled upon your website. I've even stuck a video of the game on YouTube now, thanks to the HT1080Z emulator and your site!

My current collection of physical retro computers/consoles is:
Amstrad CPC464, Amstrad PCW8512 (boxed), Amiga 1200 (boxed), grey Playstation (boxed), white PS1, PS2, X-Box (boxed), Saturn, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Neo Geo Pocket, Gameboy Advance

It's not a great list, but we all have to start somewhere, don't we? :)

Welcome to the family. It is good to see users creating useful material for other members to enjoy. Can I suggest that you submit your video to our retro gaming youtube channel. You can PM the moderator at the proper forum, follow this link, Retro Videogame Videos

You can PM Bluemaxima to get help with uploading the video.

Good luck and welcome :hi:

Hello there.... Where you from?

My mom worked for TCS in Germany and reconfigured the Genie to meet the German specification. TCS was the only company who imported the Genie in Germany. They also made 2 own Genies, the Genie IIs en the Genie IIIs. The IIIs is one of the fastest Z80 whit 7.2 mhz :D

I only own a Genie I and II.

I'm from Sussex, England

I look on you with green eyes of envy that you have a Genie I and II. I used to use them both, many moons ago.

Right now I have none but the emulator. We never had a Genie III, but we did have a Colour Genie.

My dad was an independent reseller. He sold Genie I, II and Colour Genie, and he also sold the Intertec Superbrain

We used to go to trade shows and country shows, and my dad insisted that I sit and play computer games! How many parents ask their kids to do that now? :)

The genie 1 i have has never seen any shop, this one was direct from the company as example how to make the changes to the hardware. They count every piece of hardware that she used, but forgot this whole machine :D

From the color genie i only have seen a lots of parts, never seen a working one.

The Genie II i paid 75 euro for it and for the superbrain only 25. :freakout:
