Help!

I just joined, became an unlimited member, only to get errors on every rom download I have tried. I am brand new to mame...but consider myself fairly good with computers. Not sure why it is so hard?

I am building a arcade stick with a raspberry pi b+ with retropie. I was going to use this site to download specific roms vs a huge library, but wanted to test them on my windows 10 machine before moving them over to the pi, so I downloaded the latest version of mame to test them out. I have tried galaga and pacman - both are giving me errors.

What am I missing?!?!

I think I may have found my issue. It appears that older versions of mame come with retropie (saw a recommendation to use 2003). So - I guess I will try them on the raspberry once I set it up.

Would appreciate if someone responds to this to confirm that this is an active site though...

It is active but for me at this time of year it is very busy. Sorry for the delay. Certain versions of MAME are used with certain distributions because of their size. That is why we keep older versions of some sets, as they are best used with certain platforms.
