what is your favorite kind of Deathmatch map.

Postby Dragon Mech » Sun May 18, 2014 2:56 pm

there are lots of different kinds of deathmatch maps these days for just about every first person shooter out there. some are extremlly massive, others are so small that there is barely any room to run around in. of course your favorite kind of map depends on your playing style. take me for example. i like maps that have fairly large open areas that offer long, hard to make shots but also have some cover( trees, crates, small walls etc). as well as lots of hallways, rooms ( big an small ) and two or more floors to make it more difficult to find the other players. these are the kind of deathmatch maps i have the most fun playing. but as i said everyone has there own preferences and i thought that it would be cool to hear what everyone has to say on this subject. please feel free to include any screenshots with your posts and share your "war stories".

My favorite kind is the older Arena-style DM maps, the moderately large ones with powerups, jump pads, etc. For the more fast-moving games or even some like Tribes Ascend where speed rules and it is actually difficult to line up good shots.

I agree with Se7en, big enough to be able to retreat but not too large that people can hide. Lots of stuff and if possible make a strong hold area for each side/team and also a general kill arena where the bloodbath can be full on.

full on bloodbaths are fun. but i find after 20 or 30 frags it gets a bit repetitive and dull. so i guess a balanced map should have a "Grand Arena" for head to head, all out Battle Royals. as well as a maze of rooms and corridors for those that prefer the challenge of hunting for the other players. plus a wide selection of weapons to play with.

I like the larger more open maps. But of course this is because I usually have a Sniper Rifle... :freakout:
