First and foremost, The Old Computer has got to be the best retro gaming site on the planet I done registered and upgraded to unlimited status within two minutes of each other I prefer retro gaming (Mainly SNES and back) , simply because today's games just put me to sleep. I don't own anything newer than the PS2, and the only thing I have for it is Fantasy Role-Playing Games. (Which is my favorite genre) Here is what I have:

Retro Computer 1:
CPU: 80286 @ 8Mhz w/1MB RAM
GPU: Tseng E4000 w/1MB VRAM
O.S. DOS 6.22
SC: SoundBlaster 16 *** UPDATE *** 4/4/2016, SoundBlaster 16 removed and replaced with the Adlib Synthesizer Card
Main Use: For my retro collection among retro collections. Titles include Ultima I-VI, Zork 1-3, Wizardry 1-4, Might & Magic 1 and 2 to name a few

Retro Computer 2:
CPU: Intel Pentium II @ 350MHZ w/16MB RAM (586 based Mother Board)
GPU: ATI Mach 64 w/4MB VRAM
O.S. DOS 6.22 & Windows 3.11
SC: SoundBlaster AWE 64
Main Use: My Retro Collection that the 286 is unable to handle Titles include Ultima VII (Part 1 and 2), Ultima VIII, Wizardry 5 and 6,
Might & Magic 3-6, Ultima Underworld I and II, to name a few

Retro Computer 3:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition @ 3.2Ghz w/16GB RAM
GPU: AMD/ATI Diamond Radeon 5870HD w/1GB VRAM
O.S. Windows 7 64-bit Home Edition
SC: SoundBlaster Audigy SE
Main Use: To play the Atari 2600/5200/7800, Colecovision, Intellivision, NES, SNES, Turbografx 16/CD, Sega Genesis, Gameboy/Color/Advance,
Playstation 1 and 2 Games

Hello and welcome. I love the fact that the newest PC is used to play the oldest systems, karma. I love the fact that you are running two other complete old DOS and WIN systems for your fav games. I have many different PC's in my collection and I still prefer to use the correct system for the game of choice as it adds a lot to the experience.

i have a similar setup for my retro computer but abit more complicated:

OS:
Windows 2000 Professional (occuping 2 hard drives)
Windows Me (Millennium Edition) (1 hardrive)
MS-DOS 7.10
(this a hacked version of the dos that is included with the last version of Win95 and Win98 SE. this OS has access to two 4GB HDDs. both are split into two 2GB FAT partitions with a 2GB partition that is set aside for a linux OS.)
Windows for Workgroups 3.11
Wary Puppy Linux v5.3 (i manly use this OS to transfer files from other computers/OSes to MS-DOS 7.10 & Windows 3.11).
RAM: 384MB of SD-RAM for Win 2000 pro and Win Me, 64MB for MS-DOS 7.10 and Wary Puppy linux
CPU: Intel Celeron @ 500MHz.
GPU: onboard ATI 3D Rage Pro 2x with 4MB of VRAM ( A.K.A ATI 3D Rage Pro Turbo. compatible with ATI Mach 64 drivers for Windows 3.1x ).
Audio: SoundBlaster Live! Value for Win 2000 & Win Me. SoundBlaster VIBRA 16 PnP for MS-DOS 7.10 & Warry Puppy Linux.

Thanks, and I totally agree. Playing my retro games on my genuine DOS computers always gives me a since of being back in the 80's I will occasionally play a few of the 'newer' DOS games on DOSBOX on my not so retro computer Here is number 4

21st Century Computer:

Main Use: Internet, downloading retro games , Video Rendering, Video Compiling, Music editing/compiling, researching, and other high end computing
activities

Update To 586 Computer:
Storage consists of one 5 1/4 floppy, one 3 1/2 floppy, one 250MB Zip drive, one dvd reader/recorder (Used for cd's only), one IDE flash card reader, and
one 8GB IDE Hard Drive partitioned at four 2GB logical drives.

Update To 286 Computer:
Storage consists of one 5 1/4 floppy, and two Hard drives totaling approx. 500MB total storage

Just wanted to say "Hi" and also thanks for this great looking site. I'm just an old fart looking back to where it all began. Came here looking to see if I could find "Rescue on Fractalus", the first computer game I can remember playing on my 8-bit Atari system. Figure it'll be fun to show my 14 year old daughter what games used to look like. Not having any vintage hardware, I'm going to have to rely on emulation on my modern box, a System76 Gazelle Pro laptop running Ubuntu linux 14.04LTS.

Hope to make this a semi regular stop in my internet travels, looks like fun.

Welcome and you should be able to find everything you need. Rescue on Fracalus was a great game, I played it at the time on a Commodore 64.

Hey there Oldtimers! Just stumbled across this site today and immediately joined. Took me an hour to sort a Bitcoin account and secure wallet but I got there in the end and hopefully was successful in donating my 0.08 bitcoins to further the cause.

I've already downloaded an emulator for my first ever computer which I still have in my loft - A BBC-B 32k from 1982. I bet it still works too. Must dust it off and fire it up some time.

Next on the list was my favourite game for it, Elite! My how times have changed. I now play Elite - Dangerous on my PC, still owned by David Braben (he must be pretty crusty by now lol)

Anyway, just saying hello. Back to Elite if I can ever remember the keys to control the bugger

Welcome to the fold and great to have you with us. I have very fond memories of Elite on the BBC which I also played at the same time as you most likely. When going to use that old BBC, please bring it into a dry warm room for several weeks before trying to turn it on or you might fry some of the chips. In the past few years I have found that many of my old machines are suffering silicon failure, I guess age is eventually catching up on them.
