Information to the Cracktros

» The Cracktro file formats:

Zipped Cracktros (.ZIP) - The zipped Cracktros are simple AMIGA executables, which have been extracted from the game disks.

Cracktros in .DMS/.ADF format - The Cracktros in DMS/ADF format are complete dumps of a cracked game disk. Due to copyright reasons, the game content has been completly removed, so that the Cracktro is the only remaining content on the disk image. To watch a Cracktro in DMS/ADF format you need a emulator like WinUAE, which supports ADF and DSM images directly, or you'll have to write the image back to an AMIGA disk with this collection of programs. To extract the files, you need the LHA utility.

» How to play the provided MODs on this site:

AMIGA
Delitracker - A standalone player for a wide variety of file formats (150+). There is virtually no MOD file format, this player doesn't support! More information can be found on the homepage of the Deliplayer.
Eagleplayer

Windows
Oldskool Winamp plugin - The Oldskool plugin allows Winamp to play almost any type of MOD. Btw: You can download a plugin to play TFMX (MOD file format created by Chris Hülsbeck) and C64 SID files on the plugins site of Winamp too.
Deliplayer - Standalone player for a wide variety of file formats (214+). There is virtually no MOD file format, this player isn't able to play! More information can be found on the homepage.

DOS - If you prefer an oldskool OS ;-)
XMPlay

Thanks Crusty for a great post. I used to love the Cracktros that were on the disks, some of the music was the best made on the Amiga at the time. This is a great way to see them easily.

I moved this topic to the main retro computing forum, I am happy that it is safe enough in this day and age. I encourage everyone to take a browse through these.
