Possible MAME Additions

As requested by PMJP in my welcome thread, I had some ideas to share for the MAME/WIN emulators section. MAME is my main focus in emulation. I'm still new here and I don't know what the go is with things like the possible need to seek permission for distributing files originating from other sites and whatnot. Therefore, I won't post any links for now unless requested by someone in charge.

OK, so I see that the MAMEUI section could be greatly expanded upon with the help of the MAME32 & MAMEUI32 Museum at progetto-SNAPS. They host MAME32 and MAMEUI32 versions going all the way back to MAME32 0.026a 05-08-1997 and it looks like they have every incarnation of MAMEUI64 as well (currently 0.126 - 0.148).

I also know of a significant MAMEPlus! archive at Replay Burners MAME Plus! Version Page. They have a heap of MAMEPlus! versions from 0.60 - 0.133. Of course, more recent MAMEPlus! releases are available at sourceforge.

It might also be fun to have at least one version of MAME32 Plus! Plus! with Kaillera to help encourage more good people to play many great arcade games with each other online. My version of choice is 0.119.

As you know we have the historical versions of MAME here but I dont see any reason why we can do the same for MAMEUI and Mameplus. If you can point me int he right direction (via PM) to where I can download them all then I can add them or PMJP might want to take charge of this.

Have a think and let me have your thoughts.

PM sent to you both. My thoughts: I'd be honoured if it turns out that I've made some small contribution to the greatness of The Old Computer!

:freakout:

That's OK, happy to help with MAME.

I originally sent it as a group PM to you both so I'll wait for a response from PMJP rather than spamming his inbox.

I got your PM and I will see what I can do.
Can you send me the old MAME32 link again?

Hold on there PMJP, check out the Emulators Updates for news on MAME32 and MAMEUI. I have taken last night, downloaded, sorted and then uploaded oevr 1GB of emualtors and as a result we now have a complete historical catalogue of MAME32 and MAMEUI.

If you can PMJP, why not work on the MAMEPLUS catalogue?

Probably cause you would do that also before I have a chance anyway :D

I am not sure I will get the chance with this one. I spent last night helping a member get Videopac emulator and roms working. Ended up making him his own preinstalled kit.

Haha! Nice one, PMJP.

I'm amazed the MAME32 stuff got taken care of so quickly. No prisoners! Thanks, Hot Trout. :bow2:

Hopefully archives like this will help people down the track. For example, I've seen situations before where people suddenly decide to delete an old version of MAME they've been using for years, then regret it later when half their old roms don't work in new MAME.
